Acerca de esta escucha

One of the most inspired and inspiring manifestos of our art that I know. (Richard Monette, Stratford artistic director)

Constantin Stanislavski (1863-1938), arguably the most influential director in the history of the theater, was the founder of the renowned Moscow Art Theater. A pioneer of psychological realism and improvisation on the stage, he devoted his life to developing the performance techniques now emulated throughout the world.

In this first-ever audio edition of his classic work, Stanislavski's simple exercises fire the imagination, and help listeners not only discover their own conception of reality but how to reproduce it as well. An Actor Prepares is brilliantly narrated by Mike Fraser.

The audio book is engaging and entertaining…and the material is essential for understanding the theoretical underpinnings for modern acting technique. Anyone interested in the craft and technique of acting will find this immensely valuable.

Critical listening for aspiring actors

Boring but valuable. Hard to get through because of how comforting the narrators voice is.

Interesting

For me it was absolutely educational in nature from the director’s view from muscle memory to being the part vs merely play it. Definitely will listen over again for retaining purposes.

A classic, the book is great and a must read for actors, but the narrator of this book did not give what i need for a book. I personally was at times really bored by the naration, it was way to slow. And the book is also formulating its sentences in a overcomplicated maner, in my opinion. But mike fraser did a good job, just not my style. Read this book, or listen here if your not easily bored, cause this helped me found out that i probably should read physical books. But yhe buy the book

The performance is so boring I could never keep focus long enough to enjoy it, even when sped up!! The content is outdated and the craft has evolved since this was written. There is not much to hold on to and use in this book that hasn’t been translated and integrated into actor training in a more concise way. Or maybe this reader killed the book. I dunno.

Boring as foooook

yes, I have learned a summary of what is talked about here in my acting classes. I am still forcing myself to listen to this as it as Stanislavski is considered one of the founders of modern, Western acting theory. It does include indepth examples of why he teaches the things he does, which is helpful. I agree with listening to this using a faster speed.

extremely boring but forcing myself to read it
