Ryder, Garrett, Kenzo, and Diesel - The Vipers. Their deals are as sordid as their business, and their reputation is enough to bring a grown man to his knees, forcing him to beg for mercy. They are not people you mess with, yet my dad did. The old man ran up a debt with them and then sold me to cover his losses. Yes, sold me. They own me now. I’m theirs in every sense of the word. But I’ve never been meek and compliant.

Beckett: If you’re reading this, well, you know the last-letter drill. You made it. I didn’t. Get off the guilt train, because I know if there was any chance you could have saved me, you would have. I need one thing from you: get out of the army and get to Telluride. My little sister Ella’s raising the twins alone. She’s too independent and won’t accept help easily, but she has lost our grandmother, our parents, and now me. It’s too much for anyone to endure. And here’s the kicker: there’s something else you don’t know that’s tearing her family apart.

Great story
I could not stop listening. It reminded me of a Jane Austen novel. Looking forward to the next book from this author.

Great voice
I have read Lucia Lucia before and liked this author, but now I love her. This is funny, charming, quirky, sad, happy and authentic. Love the author's voice in the work and also in the reading of it.

Snooze fest on repeat
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
No. It was not time well spent. I am at Section 4 and the story line is finally kind of picking up but I did just listen to 15 minutes of her repeating yet again the same paragraph about what is she going to do and how can she possible go on and etc etc
Would you ever listen to anything by Tracy Rees again?
Probably not
Which scene was your favorite?
I like the parts where Amy reads Orallia's letters.
Could you see Amy Snow being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
I sure hope not. It's to dull.
Any additional comments?
Don't. Just don't.

What a Captivating Story! - Highly Recommended
Abandoned orphans, evil aristocrats & a treasure hunt through the early Victorian era...this audio book was absolutely dazzling. I could not stop listening. The author has done an exceptional job of balancing the story of Amy Snow's thrilling, mysterious quest with the back story of her heartbreaking childhood. This is exactly the sort of story I'm always looking for, yet rarely find. All of the characters are rich and wonderful, but I must confess that I loved the irascible Mrs. R (with her pictures of moths and men) the best. If I had one small criticism, it would be that the sound editing was a bit rough in places, obviously cutting off the end of a word. But this in no way interfered with my rapt pleasure as the story unfolded.

Not just "character development" but the development of character
After a rather slow beginning, the past and present stories merge, placing Amy Snow on a journey she believes is about her dearest friend. In fact Amy's journey is about discovering who she is-- what she truly thinks and feels. She faces the constraints of propriety in early Victorian England, is introduced to both genteel country life and the fashionable salons of high society, and must choose her own future. Following her journey is an excellent read!

Good story but lost momentum at the end
The book kept me interested up until the last hour or so. The story line seemed to lead to a predictable, fairly boring end with no twists, turns or surprises. The narrator was very good.

REALLY LOVED THIS BOOK!
This was a wonderfully, enthralling story telling of the development of the main character, Amy Snow, from foundling babe in the snow to self-confident womanhood. Amy is a days-old baby found in the snow in the woods on the grounds of an estate by the owners' only daughter, Aurelia, who is 8 years old. Aurelia's parents do not want Amy Snow (so named by Aurelia), but indulge their pampered, only daughter by letting her keep the baby. Their only stipulation - that the child be kept out of their sight and stay below stairs with the servants. The parents are hateful, and horribly unjust to Amy... but Aurellia and Amy are fast friends and companions who confide almost everything to each other. Aurelia leads and Amy follows. Until Aurelia dies, and Amy must make her own way in the world as she is thrown out of the estate. I loved both the mystery and the development of Amy's character - and all the adventures she has during the quest set out for her by Aurelia before she dies. The narration was perfect for the Amy Snow, and all the character's voices were done well. It made listening to the story a pleasure.

Terrific Story
I enjoyed this book with all it's secrets and complexities. The characters were well developed, keeping my interest.
Melody Grove reads beautifully with the exception of some of the male characters. It was at times difficult to distinguish which character was speaking with words of one person rolling into the dialogue of another creating confusion on my part and having to re-listen for clarification. I did find her voice very pleasant & enjoyable to listen to.
