Reseñas de la Crítica

"Narrator Heather Henderson's warm, conversational style transports listeners to the uncommon world of the Pennsylvania Amish in this engaging story. Widow Anita Graber is five months pregnant when her brother, Amos, persuades her to return from Ohio to her childhood home to have her baby. Henderson's Graber is endearing and still adjusting to the death of her beloved husband when she boards the Greyhound bus east. Her domineering brother shocks her when he insists that she needs to find a husband. Sumptuous descriptions of the countryside, food, and men enthusiastically describing a new buggy will put listeners on the scene. The fascinating mix of English and Pennsylvania Dutch words such as 'Englisher' (non-Amish) and 'wunderbar' adds to the unique atmosphere. Henderson's heartwarming depiction of Graber's sweet courtship when she finds the ideal man makes for a satisfying listen." (AudioFile Magazine)

I absolutely LOVE the Amish stories! This story was great except for the fact the CONSTANT nagging for poor Anita to get married and her having to CONSTANTLY tell everyone that she wasn't ready yet after the passing of her husband. I wanted to scream "LEAVE HER ALONE ALREADY!"... Anyway, That got really annoying after a while. It's also a bit off putting to me when they add in amish words instead of just keeping the flow going with all English. It's kinda like reading a book in all English, but here and there inputting a Spanish word. I mean instead of simply saying "no", they say "nay" and it sounds silly like they're a horse or something. Idk, It's just a little weird to me, but I love the stories just the same. Lol

Fabulous!!

I'm going to start by saying this is not my normal category for romance. I tried this out for the Audible Romance Category Challenge. While I can't say I'll read more Amish Romance anytime soon, I did enjoy the story line even if I found the story a little dull. It was sweet and I think maybe if it had been a little longer I may have enjoyed it more. I learned a little about the way the Amish speak that I didn't know before. In the end I would say this book is short & sweet!

The narration was good, I think she was chipper which fit the story and characters well.
