About this listen

From the extra pounds and bullies that left her eating lunch alone at school to the low self-esteem that left her both physically and emotionally vulnerable to abuse, Jasmin Singer's weight defined her life. Even after she embraced a vegan lifestyle and a passion for animal rights advocacy, she defied any skinny vegan stereotypes by getting heavier. It was only after she committed to juice fasts and a diet of whole foods that she lost almost a hundred pounds and realized what it means to be truly full.

Told with humble humor and heartbreaking honesty, this is Jasmin's story of how she went from finding solace in a box of cheese crackers to finding peace within herself.

Touching and inspirational

Jasmin gives such a painfully honest account of growing up overweight, bullied, and struggling with food addiction. I don't usually read memoirs but this one hit home for me. Highly recommend for anyone struggling with weight/image/food issues. This will definitely change you as it has me!

An honest and beautifully told personal journey.

I find Jasmin’s story relatable and inspiring. She says out loud what so many women keep inside. I’m grateful for her courage in sharing her struggles and triumphs so openly.

Thought-provoking reflection on our society

Jasmin’s memoir is honest & painful. She hold up a mirror to how we treat others in this world as she reflects on her own journey with self identity, much of this framed around her dysfunctional relationship with food. The world treats you differently whether you are fat or thin, & Jasmin has experienced both sides of this. Well-written & evocative. Well performed by Jasmin. I enjoyed it & continue to meditate on its message. Thoroughly recommend it.

A beautifully written memoir

Jasmin puts you right in the middle of complete vulnerability. The kind we don’t want to always admit. The kind that’s ultimately nightmarish and at the root of healing. A deep look into ourselves and society.

A great book to listen to!

It was a pleasure to listen to Jasmin's voice throughout this book! Listening to her story has inspired me to continue on my journey of transitioning to veganism. You rock, Jas. :)

I got lost a little

I really liked the first half of the book, unfortunately I got lost in the second half of it and even though I ended up enjoying it towards the end the angry vegan thing turned me off. I love memoirs read by their authors, you can really hear the emotion. I feel her story like a blues song and boy does she have one to tell.
