About this listen
All Dogs Go to Kevin is a humorous and touching portrait of a veterinarian, her beloved dogs, and the lessons they impart to her along the way.
You can't always count on people, but you can always count on your dog. No one knows that better than veterinarian Jessica Vogelsang, who, with the help of three dogs, is buoyed through adolescence, veterinary school, and the early years of motherhood. Taffy, the fearsome Lhasa; Emmett, an amiable golden; and Kekoa, the neurotic senior Labrador are always by her side, offering lessons in empathy and understanding for all the oddballs and misfits who come through the vet clinic doors. Also beside her is Kevin, a human friend who lives with the joie de vivre most people only dream of having. But when tragedy strikes, Jessica is reminded that the animals we love give more than they take.

What happens when the case itself becomes an intractable puzzle, when clues are shrouded in smoke and mirrors, and when criminals skillfully evade law enforcement in a maddening cat-and-mouse chase? Even the most devoted true-crime listener won't predict the outcome of these truly baffling cases until the conclusions revealed in Ann Rule's marvelously insightful narrative.

Even more than the title implies
Would you listen to All Dogs Go to Kevin again? Why?
Yes. As a matter of fact i'm doing it now.
Who was your favorite character and why?
The author, Doctor V.
What does Jessica Vogelsang bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
You get an even better sense of "who she is" to use an overworked phrase.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Before you progress too far in life, read this book.
Any additional comments?
I think the subtitle should be changed. It is about what her three dogs taught her, but it so, so much more...the blossoming of a nerd into a veterinarian; a shy young girl into a wife, mother, and doctor; lessons about life from the animals and people she dealt with, etc.

A fresh perspective on life, vet med, and animals
This is a wonderful story of one woman's journey through life, veterinary medicine and all the animals along the way. I enjoyed her detailed personal accounts during veterinary college. Most veterinarian authors tell nothing of their educational journey to becoming a DVM. I think it's awesome that Dr. Vogelsang chose to narrate her own book. That guarantees all listeners will know exactly how the context is meant to be expressed. I wish more authors did this. This is a fresh dose of " reality" in so many aspects of the word. I can't wait for her next book!

This isn't about training dogs in any way
What did you love best about All Dogs Go to Kevin?
It captured my interest. Unexpectedly. There is a dog trainer whose business name is the same as this book title, so I thought it was about dog training. I soon learned this wasn't the case, but the story was intriguing and it was well written and well read.
What other book might you compare All Dogs Go to Kevin to and why?
I've not read another book like it.
Which character – as performed by Jessica Vogelsang – was your favorite?
She didn't play different characters, she read her own book, which was about her and her dogs. So I guess my favorite character would be Jessica.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes, the ending, but I don't want to ruin it for you.
Any additional comments?
I highly recommend this book to anyone that loves dogs. It was also interesting perspective because she is a veterinarian.

A Great Story for any who had lost a pet!
We recently put our 13yr old Old English Sheepdog, Harry, down. He was the 1st male dog I have ever own. Over the 13 yrs Harry was a member of of our family in every sense of what s family means. He would actually smile when he saw that you had come home to him.
His heart had gotten & his legs began to fail. But like in the story that was told so well, Harry, let us know when he had to go to heaven. This is a must read for anyone dealing with a sick or aging pet.

I laughed and I Cried
This book and narration has a vulnerability, an energy, and a poignancy I have rarely seen in memoirs. It's less about Kevin (who I wish I'd gotten to know a bit better), but more about dogs, about growing up, about changing, about becoming comfortable in oneself. It's the perfect mix of autobiography, of animals, and about loving, letting go, and moving on.
Well-written, well-read, and well worth your time and credit.

Made me laugh and cry.
Although the vet school part of the story got a bit long, I thoroughly enjoyed the rest of the book. And having a story read by the author is always a bonus. As a dog lover, I could identify with much of Dr. V's sentiments, and loved laughing at some of the more ridiculous exploits of both her own dogs and those of her clients.
