Publisher's summary

There’s a dark power growing within me. And I’m not sure I can control it.

The fae king wants me dead. His assassins tracked me down and nearly killed me - now, they’re the ones lying lifeless in a pool of blood. But the price I've paid is too high. They hurt someone I love, and I burn for revenge.

I’m done watching from the sidelines. Following the seductive fae, Roan, I join the rebels but find myself surrounded by suspicion at every turn. But with the strange new magic in my blood, no one trusts me anymore.

It's the magic of fear, of terror, of nightmares. The king’s minions have given me another name: Mistress of Dread. My power is unstable and deadly, and to get my vengeance, I must learn to control it. Yet with fury boiling in my blood and desire for Roan kindling my heart, it seems like an impossible task.

FBI Agent, Pixie, Terror Leech, Mistress of Dread. Will I become a King Killer as well?

Love the story

I love this story but some ways the words are pronounced drive me nuts! I am not sure why since they are pretty common words. Overall i will continue to listen since i like everything else.

A sucker for the reciepe of this series

Loved the story. This is not a book for a serious literature critique but it is a good distraction and an enjoyable listen. love the narrator have listened to 1-3, do think you shoyld start at beginning but thats just my preference. The story ends abruptly but I hope it is a set up foe the next in the series.

Great story!

Am really liking these stories a lot. My only real problem is that many words as narrated are mispronounced. Bestial and tousled, are ones I can at best. I would understand it if the narrator was pronouncing the words while using a British accent as sometimes the words are said a bit different. But this is not the case in every instance that i noted it. I don’t usually comment about these sort of issues, but this was numerous. Despite this, i would recommend the read.

Great series

This series is a must read if you like fantasy books with romance and intriguing plot twists. Although Cassandra has struggled with her past and her Fae heritage. In this book she finally starts to resolve those issues; accepting who she really is. Plus, as a bonus we finally get to see Rohn and Cassandra’s relationship progress fully ( yes they finally consummate the bond).

Series just gets better and better!

Omg! Roan is soooooooooooo HOT! Definitely my new book boyfriend :). As the pieces of Cassandra’s past start to come together, our tumultuous duo face even greater threats. There are traitors in their midst, heart breaking suffering, and a much anticipated, VERY yummy scene that is totally worth the three book build up.

Good Series starting to show flaws, unfortunately

I do enjoy this series. It is a solid Scifi fantasy concept with dual worlds, super power struggles and mythical beings. It's a very fun "otherworldly" design, set in merry old England.

However, I am starting to find the scenes to be too long. Sadly characters are being killed off that could have been maintained for connection later. And in the audio portion of the book, "cavalry" is consistently mispronounced as "cav-lary" to distraction.

Even worse

You learn that she and Roan are mates. They haven't confirmed it yet, by stating the obvious, but you find out there are mates within the Fae creatures. This story is worse. Roan knows they are mates but doesn't tell her. I deduced this by two other Fae talking about there are mates but very rare. The Fae knows they have mates. Not sure why Cassandra doesn't knows because of the connection, if they do have true mates.
After touching some stone, she can't deal with the emotions she gets from it she just gets drunk and looking for her real mom who was at one time in the Fae city. You can figure this out but Cassandra doesn't know.
All to obvious and very predictable. I'm writing this being on chapter 4.
In chapter 5 the only person in England that likes her and truly cares for her is killed by banshee that come after her. So again isolation from anyone who can help her. This author has only 1 arrow in her quiver. All 3 books so far do this.

About chapter 7 or 8 this story got better but in the end the author has to keep the 2 apart for juvenile reasons. This book, in my opinion, except the sex, is young adult very juvenile emotions. Cassandra wants Roan, he wants her but neither will say this. He is over 500 years old. OMG speak!!! She supposedly has a higher education in psychology.....with, SPEAK to each other. Get it all out!
