Publisher's summary

Do you dare to face the darkness?

Explore the dark world that exists just outside what you can see and thrives on the most terrible things you can imagine. Explore the unfathomable depths of darkness with four distinctly horrifying stories that delve the depths of madness and fear. Nighttime is when the darkness that is within each and every one of us escapes and envelops us in the perilous and inscrutable blackness.

Who can say for sure what lurks on the periphery of our consciousness? When seen again in the light of day, ordinary objects and ordinary parts of our lives are nothing more than what we know them to be. But come nightfall, who knows?

Follow a dreamer who takes flight and explores fantastic worlds in the dark. Like Icarus, he soars to uncharted heights without realizing the danger hidden in his own dreams.

Learn the secrets of a dark and deviant street vendor. In the light of day, he wouldn't merit a second glance but everything is different at night.

Uncover the mystery of a deadly and terrible childhood secret that still haunts a broken man. Perhaps he could have solace if the circumstances surrounding the death of his sister were somehow explainable.

See the terrible power of a buried ancient and bloody curse. Once uncovered, it is free to exact a terrible revenge.

All of this and more is trapped in this book of horror. Do you dare to face the darkness?

Great collection of short horror

So why not a 5 for story? I didn’t connect with all the stories. Having given other collections 5 stars I had to Give this one a four. That being said it doesn’t mean it won’t be a five for you. Also, narrators can make or break an audio book and J Scott Bennett is one of my top narrators to listen to and he is my grandsons (my listening buddy) number one narrator for 3.5 years now. This collection will give you the heebee jeebies for sure. A great listen for a fall October evening. Hey with the season and give it a shot. Good Collection of Horror Tales

Good collection of haunting short stories. As others have said, the street vendor story really shines the brightest. I liked how certain things weren’t explicitly said but were eluded to. That really stood out to me with Phil Fogliani’s writing. All the stories were quite unique and interesting. Fogliani has a great imagination and is really able to bring you into each story with his writing.

J. Scott Bennett is one of my favorite narrators, something with the tone of his voice. He does a great job with the narration of this story. Our genres don’t always align so I am always excited to find one that he has done that is in the horror genre.

Four more fun short horror stories

My rating: 3.5 stars
Audiobook narrator J. Scott Bennett rating: 4.5 stars

This is the follow up book to Slivers in the Dark. It is another collection of four short horror stories. These stories are varying in their disturbing-ness yet they are short and fun.

The stories in this book may have been a little more interesting than the ones in the first book. I really enjoyed the second story about the New York hot dog vendor. It was written so realistically that I could really see this actually happening (well, maybe not but maybe in a short film/horror world!).

I like how all of these stories end – meaning they end but don’t end (you’ll have to read the stories to understand what I am talking about).

Again, I really enjoyed the narrator. He has a great story telling voice and sets the tone correctly for this genre. Thanks for the free book, Scott!

Pretty Good

The stories are short & I did like a couple of them, but honestly none were very scary at all & not really for adults looking to be scared. The intro sets it up as these are scary & you may not be able to sleep after the book. Not true at all!!

The stories were way to simple & lacking development or substance to even come close to scaring me. However, this books stories are great for kids stories on a Halloween night!

I gave the book 3 stars for being a great stories for 9 - 12yrs of age & for a good narrator.

The narrator was good, clear and concise in his reading with no mistakes at all.

Yes, I recommend the narrator
No, I can't recommend the book

I was given this book for free at my request and I am providing this review voluntarily.
