Critic reviews

"Lindsay C. Gibson, PsyD, gives practical insight into a prevalent problem.... The book is impeccably clear.... This utter lack of confusion makes the book quite soothing, despite the heavy subject." ( Foreword Magazine)

Excellent

Concise, honorable, nonjudgmental presentation of emotional immaturity. Easy to identify with descriptions of how that effects relationships. Sound advice and encouragement on acting more emotionally mature.

I understood myself for the first time

This book caught me by surprise - I’ve never been able to put so many pieces together at once. I’ve never felt so “seen” and understood. This book got me unstuck in my healing journey.

Eye opening

It was refreshing perspective. I was thinking I had narcissistic parents and spouse but I think they are emotionally immature. I will strive to be the emotionally mature parent because that's all I am supposed to do.

Enthralling, enlightening so underrated!

This book has truly touched the core of my being and illustrated my early life in a form of a textbook. My childhood depicted a child I didn't know his name, Dr. Gibson came into my life abruptly and named that kid.

Gibson's words and stories came dawning on me, pulling me back to darkness, cut me open, only to bring me back to a paved path of acceptance and glistening light. I came to appreciate the eternal power clasped in the warm hands of awareness and reinforcing my sense of volition to change my life for the better.

It's been a long time since I've come across such a groundbreaking book, Lindsay walked me through my traumas one by one and held my hand all along the way. I just wish I would have found this book earlier.
I tried to find a way to contact her but failed miserably, I wish she would consider translating it to more languages, and spread the meaningful word. Please translate it to Hebrew. I am a translator and I will be more than grateful to maybe win the golden opportunity to work with her on setting this project out to fly.
More people should know, they deserve it.

Thank you a million times<3

Wow!

This book is amazing and facilitated so much growth in me. Even if you have a great relationship with your parents, I’d highlight recommend for the sole purpose of learning to recognize emotionally immature people and how to react to them in constructive and healing ways.

I kept catching myself agreeing with the narrator

This book was great! I even recommended it to my best friend who has a similar family dynamic. I loved that the audiobook included the action items and self-quizzes, but more than that, I loved the different stories used throughout the book. It allowed the reader to clearly see the concepts as multi-dimensional and varied. No one story is alike, however, as you listen to them you can find similarities between the stories and your own experiences. Very well narrated and researched.
