About this listen
Insurance adjusters meet clients on the worst days of their lives, and they must be diplomatic, tactful, and ethical. The job is not only about returning phone calls and doing paperwork. Whether the case involves cargo damage, residential and business property damage, fire, fraud, burglary, or arson, it's the job of the adjuster to get to the bottom of things.
Author Jonathan L. Scott has spent more than thirty years as an adjuster. In a series of short stories, loosely based on actual insurance claims, he recalls navigating the human dimension of balancing a client's circumstances with policy requirements and the law-and it's never easy.
All adjusters investigate, evaluate, and settle claims, but the best ones are worth their weight in gold several times over. The bad ones, however, can cause huge problems for the public and their employers. If you've ever been curious about the work of an insurance adjuster, read on and find out how each claim becomes its own little adventure.

Heloise considers it a blessing to be a person who seldom attracts attention. In her suburb, she's just a mom, the young widow with the forgettable job, who somehow never misses a soccer game. In the state capital, she's the redheaded lobbyist with a good cause and a mediocre track record. But in discreet hotel rooms throughout the area, she's the woman of your dreams - if you can afford the hourly fee. For more than a decade, Heloise believed she was safe, managing to keep up this rigidly compartmentalized life. But her secret life is under siege. One county over, another so-called suburban madam has been found dead in her car, an apparent suicide.

Insurance adjuster?
What did you love best about Adjuster Stories?
I think the book gave me a better understanding of the insurance industry. I never knew what an insurance adjuster was or what his function was in my claims
Any additional comments?
I recommend the audio book. I found it kept my attention and turned up my interest in the insurance industry in a way I did not think possible. The narration was good and the writing was in a very clipped manner almost like reading an insurance claim!

Death by Drama
Interested in how insurance adjusters cleave their craft, and this book being one of the few available, I purchased it to learn about the wild world of an adjuster. The stories would be so much better if the voice were someone, anyone, different. After a lifetime of good fortune as a claims adjuster, this author's karma hit a glitch on this performance. A cringeworthy 10 hour audiobook, it should be re-recorded by a more articulate and smooth voiced reader, who would likely get it down to 8 hours. It's as though the narrator was getting paid by the hour, and needed a few extra dollars at the time of recording. Unfortunately, the book suffers. Not much of a story, than just a collection of stories. I would rather buy the author dinner, or a beer, to hear him tell a few of his favorites. Cheers!

REAL LIFE STORIES
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
YES, I like all audiobooks that I can turn off and then pick right up again when I next start to drive. The narrator's voice was an easy listen.
What was one of the most memorable moments of Adjuster Stories?
When the author got his speeding ticket. I have also received a ticket for going one mile over the speed limit.
Which character – as performed by Joshua Bennington – was your favorite?
The large lady who fell through the bath room floor. She was huffing and puffing just to tell her story. I could just see this character in my mind. BIG! Mr. Bennington gave her that voice of "I am soooo big I can hardly walk".
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
