Publisher's summary

Dr. Adam Cassidy knew two things: life isn’t easy and fate’s a bitch.

Adam's last mission cost him an eye, his memory, and any chance of staying with his military brothers-in-arms on Guardian's Alpha Team. He'd scraped together the remnants of his life. He’d refined, rebuilt, and pushed on alone, while every night, sleep tortured him with the fleeting memory of the warm, welcome press of the soft breasts and lips of a faceless, nameless woman.

Keelee Marshall knew all about loss. She couldn't forget their brief nights of passion - but Adam had. The man she loved beyond reason had disappeared on the battlefields of Afghanistan. It seemed she would have to win his love all over again, and in Adam's ignorance, he was pushing her into the arms of a man she didn’t want and a future devoid of romance.

Love can trump the cards fate has dealt both of them. But only if the man holding the cards is a Guardian.

Love this whole series

Love this whole series. Kris Michaels writes a wonderful world in this series, and Matt Haynes does a wonderful job narrating it.

Poor Narration

Great voice and enunciation but very unrealistic reading of oral exchanges.
The oral narrative in fiction needs to be better “acting”.
Perhaps oral editing is poor.
Example: “Yes sir, John and James are handling this.” Vs “Yes sir, John AND James are handling this.”
There is a dramatic implication that James will be significant at some future point. The listener is left waiting for the follow up.
The narrator is not involved and becomes a poor reader which distracts from story.

A great don’t give up story!

Keelee Marshall loves Dr Adam Cassidy beyond all reason even after he hurt her. Doc realized what a treasure he had with her and then was injured on his mission. He lost so much but losing his memories of Keelee as well as his confidence caused him to push her towards another direction. I loved the strength of Keelee. She sticks to her guns no matter the costs. Matt Haynes gives feeling and strong emotional reactions through his performance. Job well done!

A Memory and A Dream

Dr. Adam Cassidy and Kaylee Marshall meet and have a great connection but one misunderstanding had them putting up walls and walking away. Two years later Adam finds his way back to the ranch to recover but without his memories of the time he spent there before or what happened between him and Kaylee. Kaylee was left with her memories and longing for something she was sure would never happen. Kaylee wasn’t sure why everyone kept pushing her to settle down with someone she didn’t love and the one she wanted couldn’t remember her. I just re-listened to this book and realized I never actually left a review. I think I was so excited to see what came next, I forgot to come back and leave a review. I have to say the fact that I re-listened to this when I still remembered the story and could quote parts says a lot. A great listen and a great series.

Becky

I'm so glad that important issues are being addressed, such as child sexual abuse ,mental health issues and the fact that there is health out there and that you can have a life afterwards.

🌻First half bores me to tears🌻

🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻V from Kansas🌻🌻🌻🌻🌻

The first part of this book was a repeat of a previous book, only in Doc’s POV. If I had waited months for this book to release, it probably wouldn’t have bothered me. However, I’ve listened to each book back to back. Therefore, I just heard the first half of this book because DOC’s POV added little difference to the story I heard the first time.

After I got through the repeat, the rest of the book was OK, but it wasn’t near as entertaining as the previous books and it definitely didn’t touch me like Joey’s story. Honestly, I was really looking forward to Doc’s story, because I love the character, but I should have just skipped to Jason’s story because this book was a dud.😭

Hanging in

This is the 3rd book. I love the premise of this story but the execution just wasn’t there. The story had so much promise, such as exploring mental health in rural areas. I am trying very hard to get past the narrator. The voices are so similar. I might try the kindle version next but hoping the series will improve.
