About this listen

A ball, a gown, a pumpkin, and a happily ever; this standalone, contemporary YA romance has them all.

When Ella receives an exciting invitation to attend an exclusive boarding school, she knows she won't fit it. These kids are elite, wealthy, and driven. She's 'average Ella' on a scholarship, at least, that's what she wants everyone to believe. A lost shoe, a lost shirt, oh my. When events push her to need a boyfriend, Ella asks hot senior Hale.

His response? "No."

Yep. That's her fairytale.

Hale's driven, and he needs an A on the fall project. He doesn't need the sweet but average scholarship girl screwing up his grade - not after last year. Tanking science will ruin his entry into a top pre-med program. He's focused. School. Homework. Rowing. No girl's going to mess up his plan. Not even one as intriguing as Ella.

These two meet in ashes, sparks fly, and their lives light up.

Once upon a time.

Good story, horrible narration

It is hard to enjoy a story that sounds like it has been recorded in an empty closet with the door shut. The thumping in the background didn't help. I was also quite distracted by the accent of the narrator. It's beautiful, but the voice of a girl from Texas should not sound like an Irish lass.

Meh...

The narration has a static sound underlaying it all, and the narrator has an accent that is more Irish than Texas which just doesn't fit.

Disappointing Sound Quality

I was extremely excited about this book. However I was severely disappointed in the sound quality. The book and performance were good, even if the author stumbled over some words and ended chapters abruptly. Overall, I liked the story but felt like the audible book was a waste of money.

Very poor sound quality and narrator

What did you like best about Accidental Cinderella? What did you like least?

I loved the book so much that I was excited to see it come audible. I was horrified within thirty seconds that the sound quality was so bad that I am convinced that is was recorded in someone's house with a cell phone. The narrator had little to no inflection in her voice. What ever you do DON'T BUY. I will be looking for a refund.

Terrible quality! The worst audible recording

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

I can't answer this yet bc I'm going to read it on my own; I am only here to complain about the audible.

Would you be willing to try another book from Emily Evans? Why or why not?

So far I would be willing to but not with audible!

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Ziggy O'Keefe?

Almost anyone else. Maybe someone who can do voices? Or someone who understands when different people speak or what it sounds like to be from Texas?

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

I honestly could not concentrate on the book bc the audible was such poor quality. I plan to read it on my own. These questions keep asking about the book but they need to address the audio bc that's why I'm here; otherwise I would just write a regular review where most people do: under the book and not under audible.

Any additional comments?

All these comments have to do with the story. The story is fine; it is the audible itself that needs to change. The narrator had an Irish accent so it was very distracting for a character from Texas. The voices between characters were not thought out and other than the MCs, the others all sounded alike. There's SO much static in the background! In addition it feels like it is the reader's first time reading the book so she didn't know where to use emphasis or how to express the difference between thought and dialogue. I listened to the story on my way to work and I was very confused in several parts until I was able to pull over and actually at the story because there was no difference between paragraphs or when a character was just thinking compared to saying it out loud. Pauses were in very strange places as well. I had to stop at only 8%. It was only $1.99 but I want a refund. If I recorded myself using the computer it would sound better.

Recording quality awful, a Texan with an Irish accent?

The recording quality for this book is horrible. It sounds like it was recorded with two tin cans with a stirring attaching them together.

I also do not understand how the main character is from Texas and the story is being read but a woman with what sounded to me like an Irish accent. It was off putting.

I couldn’t finish this book because of the poor recording quality. I’m glad it was part of the romance package and I could remove it from my library without feeling like I wasted money.

The readers matter... the recording quality matters. I don’t like giving bad reviews but I need to be honest.

Far and away.

The reading I am sure was good but the recording sounds bad. The narrator sounds like she is sitting 6 feet from the mic with a standing fan blowing nearby.
