About this listen

Thirteen-year-old Aluna has lived her entire life under the ocean, just like all of the Coral Kampii in the City of Shifting Tides. But after remaining hidden from the Above World for centuries, her colony is in trouble, its survival in doubt :  the tech that allows the Kampii to breathe underwater is beginning to fail, and many Kampii have already died. Yet the colony’s elders, including Aluna’s father, are unwilling to venture to the dry and dangerous Above World to search for answers. So it’s up to Aluna and her friend Hoku to face the terrors of land to find a solution. Once in the Above World, Aluna and Hoku learn that their colony is not the only one struggling to survive  - so are others in the skies and in the deserts. Will Aluna’s warrior spirit and Hoku’s intelligence be enough not only to keep themselves safe but also to find a way to save their city and possibly the world? Here is a thrilling ride through a future in which greed and cruelty may have gone unchecked but the loyalty of friends remains as true as ever.

Great read for those who want to swim, fly, or run

Author did a great job of unlocking one mystery at time. Gentle suspense also kept you engaged in the story line and plot.

Lost interest

After about one hour of listening to the story, I lost interest in the storyline and characters. Sorry, just wasn’t my cup of tea.

Enjoyable dystopian novel for Adults and teens

This a fun adventure novel that is based on science not magic. There is an level of intensity but no real terror. Which makes it OK for kids maybe 10 to 12 as well as kids little older and I’m in adult and I found a fan as well. There are two more novelist to go in the series and I’ve already bought them so I’m anxious to read the next one hope you will too

above world

this book was very different! the plot was thick and leaves the reader wondering how a few kids under the age of 15 can save this strange world.

2 1/2 stars...4 stars if your a Tween...

I bought this book on sale knowing it was under the young adult sale section. I figured Id give it a try. This book is definitely for Tweens or very young Teens. The story has strong female characters battling a dystopian villain. mixed with very light romance. There is a lot of, Does he like me?; Does she want a kiss from me?; Why did he rest his hand so close to mine?; all splattered with lots of blushing from many characters.
Taking that into account, I think very young teens ant tweens would enjoy the adventure and especially young girls who would like the Girl Power theme.
For older teens or adults this is a very childlish, and mildly entertaining story.
