Publisher's summary

Reclusive forensic artist Macy Sheridan agrees to work one final case she hopes will solve the mystery that's haunted her for years. The only things blocking her from achieving her goal are a perfect facial reconstruction and Detective Leigh Monroe, a woman who reminds her of the past and challenges her future.

Leigh Monroe has lost her lover, her livelihood, and her home, but she chooses to look on the bright side. What else could go wrong? Then she meets rude, solitary Macy Sheridan. But Leigh discovers that Macy's façade is a mask, yet as real and untouchable as the forensic reconstructions she so meticulously creates.

Good Mystery with twists

Where does About Face rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I usually don't listen to mysteries, but the story line sounded interesting and Gabra Zackman did the narration. She one of the best narrators around and I thought I'd give it a go. Glad I did, even though by the time I was 3/4 done with the book I had part of the mystery figured out, it still was enjoyable.

What about Gabra Zackman’s performance did you like?

I always enjoy Gabra Zackman's performance in all narrations, and have many books that she's narrated.

Any additional comments?

If you can not deal with lesbianism then don't get this book. If it doesn't bother you then I recommend highly because it's well written and very well narrated. Especially the many twists and turns the story takes. I'd like to listen to more by this author.

It was not an exciting book

I really felt this book lacked in the story department. It was a bit boring and the MCs relationship was not believable. The narrator was monotone

Nice surprise

I actually enjoyed this listen. It had the right mix. This book presents loyalty, friendship, faith/trust, love, compassion, romance, etc. I'm not big on words but just know I would recommend this book.

Listenable Despite Two Weak Lead Characters

Macy Sheridan strikes out with all the venom of a viper shedding it's skin; though mostly with much less reason. Leigh Monroe is a cop who is so hesitant to speak openly about so many things that Clint Eastwood's movie characters come off as emotionally cathartic in comparison. She continually procrastinates in cases where being open shouldn't be so damn difficult. But then Macy is constantly going off on Leigh over everything so maybe she has her reasons for holding back. These outbursts and tantrums seem perfectly aligned with a woman suffering from Borderline personality disorder yet Leigh never gets offended by her unreasonable outbursts and tantrums. On the positive side the police investigations featured have none of the glaringly obvious flaws that de riguer in most romance novels; lesbian or straight. Some of the minor characters are done quite well and the suspense in the ending is of mystery novel quality. All in all this a pretty good mystery and a fairly good romance.

Meh

Love scenes were corny, narrator sounded bored but the background story was good! Worth a read if you have time to kill.

Great read

This was the first book for me by this writer or narrator, but you can bet I'll be looking for both in the future. I love a good mystery, tales from cop shops and lesbian romances. This has it all with great style and just a little mischief.

Great book

Loved the book, love the characters and the narration was wonderful, Gabra Zackman has an amazing voice some times it was too low but it was excellent to listen.
