About this listen

Meet Dr. Sandra Eve Bradford, an astrobiological researcher in charge of the A.D.A.M. extraction team, who discovered a microbe which thrives off of arsenic on the bottom of Mono Lake in California.

General Anbar, chief-in-charge of the US National Defense, orders his team to confiscate the samples and her research. Dr. Bradford enlists her fellow researchers Dr. Gregory Peterson and her undergraduate assistant Jessica Parker to retrieve a new sample setting off a series of events and consequences.

In a government research facility, the microbe transformed into something alien. Once it becomes apparent to General Anbar that the life-form presents a national security risk, he orders his men to kidnap Dr. Bradford and holds her captive in an underground facility to continue her research.

The life-form, over a seven-day stretch, morphs into a human-like life-form aging every moment toward death. His journey makes him question - What is life? What is love? What is hate? And, is there a God?

This a story of possibilities and raises the questions: Are we alone in the universe? What else could be out there?

An amazing tale of life.

This book, although a work of fiction, is based a actual science. I was mesmerized from the beginning.

Interesting Listen

A.D.A.M. by Melissa Caudle is a thought provoking listen. I found myself intrigued by the techno stuff and science. The premise was good and well written, although outside my typical genre. Rebecca Roberts was smooth and articulate performing the book. She conveyed the appropriate emotions. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review.

Honest Review in Exchange for Promotional Copy

I give this one 4 stars out of 5. It was a simple and enjoyable story to listen to overall. There are plenty of fictional writings set within our real world but I found the unique locale, Mono Lake, of the setting for the opening scene of this story particularly interesting. This story does bring the "what if" questions and "Are we really alone in this universe?" This has a little bit of a X-Files feel to it. There is an "to be continued" ending that tells the listener that things didn't really end with ADAM.

the concept real science + great imaginstion

The foundation of this story is solid scientific fact. The author skillfully extrapolated what could be from this fact. Her insight in to governments reaction is real but frightening. the narration is good and carry the story through its few weak spots. the plot opens up the possibility that this adventure can continue on several level through several books. This is a most enjoyable listen overall and with potential adventure that this story opens has me waiting on the next book in the series.

Interesting read.

Interesting read. Dr. Sandra Eve Bradford, an astrobiologist, and her Extraction Team A.D.A.M. find a microbe living on the bottom of Mono Lake in California. Oddly, this microbe thrives on arsenic. With this discovery comes more danger for Dr. Bradford and her assistant Jessica than just that of an alien substance. Listening to the introduction, I did not think that I would enjoy this book; however, once the story started, I was quite surprised and really enjoyed it. Does end with quite a cliffhanger in my opinion; left me wanting more at any rate. :)
