Publisher's summary

The long-awaited memoir of her tumultuous year in office, A Woman First: First Woman is an intimate first-person account of the public and private lives of Selina Meyer, America's first woman president. Known and beloved throughout the world as a vocal and fearless advocate for adult literacy, fighting AIDS, our military families, and as a stalwart champion of the oppressed, especially the long-suffering people of Tibet, President Meyer is considered one of the world's most notable people. In her own words, she reveals the innermost workings of the world's most powerful office, sharing previous secret details along with her own personal feelings about the historic events of her time.

In A Woman First: First Woman, President Selina Meyer tells the story of her times the way that only she could. Listeners will gain new insights not only into Meyer herself, but also the mechanics of governing and the many colorful personalities in Meyer's orbit, including world leaders and her devoted cadre of allies and aides, many of them already familiar to the American people.

Bazinga

I'm a fan of VEEP and this production with Selina and Gray was well done. Their banter back and forth was great. I enjoyed the trip down memory lane. If you enjoyed VEEP you will likely enjoy this audio production. Great narration.

Disclaimer: My enjoyment of the narrator is based on my listening speed. I only leave 5 stars for books I've listened to or will listen to multiple times. I'll update my review if I listen again.

Go. Get it. Now.

I read the book about a week ago... and I wasn’t sure if listening to the audiobook would be worth it... oh was I wrong. Let me tell you, you in for a treat!!! 6 hours well spent, laughed the entire time, “Selina” and “Gary” do a spectacular job!!! I can’t get enough of my Veep.
P.S. I was considering to leave the one star review so Selina can have someone write a book about her childhood...but just couldn’t help myself.

Give the team all the awards

This is VEEP so not much needs to be said. It's AWFULLY HILARIOUS and HILARIOUSLY AWFUL
Bravo
Julia is amazing as always and listening to her has me considering buying the hardback for reasons that will be obvious to the listeners after spending all this time with Selina.
I only wish there was a video of the recording to be released as a movie just to get this 3 an Oscar which they most definitely deserve.

Ps:
Listening to this in public is not recommended due to spontaneous burst of laughter that will make everyone around stare at you as if you were crazy or a perma-giggle on your face that will make them think you are under the influence.

Veep Continued

If you love Veep, you absolutely must get this, the interplay between Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Tony Hale is hilarious, if you are sad about the series being over, this is 6 more hours of continuing of Veep! You will listen many times, perfect book for Audible.

Funny

I'm a big Julia Louis-Dreyfus fan but I have to say that even though (quote) "Gary" (end quote) (you'll get the joke once you listen) played a smaller role in this audiobook I would listen to it again purely for him! Worth a listen if you're looking for something entertaining and funny.

A Must for All VEEP Fans!

I totally stumbled on this book, having no idea it had been written. I am a huge VEEP fan - the "backstory" of Selena's life is so on point to the character and her persona. I was laughing so hard at many times in the book, I had to stop it until I finish so I wouldn't miss anything. Also, the performances of Selena and Gary are absolutely perfect!

A Must Listen for all VEEP Fans

As a diehard VEEP fan, I loved this so much. While I own the physical book, there’s really no comparison to hearing it read by JLD. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Hilarious Story! So much fun

I’ve missed VEEP dearly and listening to this audio book brought back memories of all the hilariousness that unfolded on screen. Using the footnotes as an extra space for comedic chops was clever and made it all the more fun. Highly recommend!

Absolutely LOVED this book

I have watched the show VEEP on HBO many times over. I am a huge fan of Julia’s and her performances- not only in the show, but during the reading of A woman first: First woman. Reading along with the hard copy was an essential. “Redactions” that Selina Meyer marks for Gary Walsh (pages 65-71 as one example)— made it necessary to pause and read the “redacted “ paragraphs— it was hilarious. This was exactly the type book I would’ve expected Mike McLintock to— not so much write (he definitely placed some of his own odd anecdotes here and there) but to blindly transcript Selena’s words directly onto the paper without much regard for potentially incriminating/de-throning language. Worth every minute!
