About this listen
Banished from her uncaring family home for her growing friendship with older neighbor St. John, Alexandria Thaine is unprepared for the new life she encounters with her distant cousins in England's West Country. She blossoms under the warmth of the Falconers, and as she throws herself into the thrilling danger of the family's smuggling trade, Alex forms an unbreakable bond with the eldest son, Rane.
But just as Alex begins to imagine a future in Devon with Rane at her side, the death of her older sister forces her back home to care for her sister's motherless twins. Still yearning for Rane, Alex grows to love the helpless babies, and as she rekindles her friendship with St. John, she finds herself caught between her heart and her home.
When the opportunity comes to start anew in Maryland's lush horse country, Alex faces the agonizing choice between the life she dreamed of and the promise of the new world. But starting over in a golden land on the brink of war brings unforeseen dangers to her door, and when Alex's new family is threatened, can she find the strength to risk her happiness today for the wild hope of a brighter tomorrow?
Contains mature themes.

Di Canzio follows their story past the end of Maurice to the front lines of battle in World War I and beyond. With the hindsight of a century, di Canzio imagines a future for them and a past for Alec—a young villager possessed of remarkable passion and self-knowledge.

I absolutely adore this series!
The first time I read this book was over 15 years ago and I absolutely devoured it. I missed the characters and the story and was excited to see it on Audible. Once I started listening, I was immediately reminded why I love this book so much. All the feelings came rushing in. Can't say enough good things about this trilogy.

Surprised and glad
I read this book when it was out of print and had been previously published under a different title, Wild Swan. The reason for my review title is that often books are re-printed in Kindle or other e-book formats and sometimes don’t make it to audio. I am very glad to see that this book is in audio, and I am looking forward to Reading it. The narrator is someone who I have listen to before, and I can recommend her as well, even though I have yet to try this combination of narrator And book. I look forward to future releases of the audiobooks for this series. I would recommend this series for people who like either the outlander series of novels, or the tea rose trilogy, or similarly epic historical fiction books.

epic novel of strength and deteinwtioj
l read this novel over twenty years ago and the story has stayed with me all these years. A story of determination and enduring love that lasts through life hardships and history. I love the historical facts so much an integral part of the novel and so masterfully woven into the story line. I am looking forward to listening to the next two novels in the series. My only disappointment is the change of the title from Wild Swan, a title that really better fits the theme and the connection to swans interwoven throughout the text. I am grateful to Celeste DeBlasis estate for releasing the story to historical fiction readers once again.

The journey.
A story of love, family and life in a new land. I read this book many years ago when the books title was Wild Swan. This is one of the best historical romance books I've ever read. I loaned the trilogy to a friend many years ago. She never returned the third book. I miss that book more than I miss the friend.
