Truly captivating!
Would you consider the audio edition of A Time to Dance to be better than the print version?
A Time to Dance was my first Audible experience and I'd have to say that it was quite brilliant. I'd recently seen an interview with Melvyn Bragg and, to be honest, I could picture him through James Faulkner's voice. Lord Bragg writes from the heart of his own experiences growing up in the North Country, and to me, some of the finest books have been written by authors' own experience. Characters are truer, places are clearer, and overall their books are more absorbing.
What was one of the most memorable moments of A Time to Dance?
Definitely the closing chapters.
What does James Faulkner bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
See above.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Indeed, yes. Tears and smiles.

A touching story that is beautifully narrated
This is really a very touching love story, made more touching by James Faulkner who did a great job. I have finished listening and will listen to it again soon. Don't hesitate and buy it. You will get the money's worth.

gripping, moving, wonderful (author and narrator)
I don't usually read fiction so have come late to Melvyn Bragg's novels. I must say this is a book I just couldn't switch off. The story has you always wanting to know what happened next, the characters are well drawn and believable - Bragg's brilliant use of the English language is present in every line. And the narrator didn't simply read a book, he acted it. He had the right accent for each character, and conveyed all of the emotions described so well by Bragg. A wonderful 'reading' experience, it has my highest recommendation.

Ugh!
What would have made A Time to Dance better?
A ghost writer.
What was most disappointing about Melvyn Bragg’s story?
It starts out as soft porn. I could only assume that it continues along the same lines. Why bother...unless you're looking for this kind of stuff.
What didn’t you like about James Faulkner’s performance?
Arrogant, ponderous. What's there to like?
