A Lack of Communication
I really enjoyed this additional story to the "Defenders of the Realm" series. It was a novella. The blurb mentioned that it should be read after the second book; however, since I was already familiar with the characters from the first book, I still enjoyed this story, even though I haven't read the second book yet. The title of this story was very appropriate as Kaia and Nolen were very much opposites in their way of living, experiences, likes, and personalities, but they were so cute together. I'm looking forward to more stories in this series. Zane Boyer's narration was great, and his performance added to the story's entertainment. I was given a free copy of the audiobook, and I have voluntarily posted this review.

Differences enrich each other
I like how the differences between the taciturn Nolen and the eloquent Kaia become clear, how two worlds collide. I feel involved in their everyday lives, which are so similar to ours, where people who are different live side by side.
The narrator brilliantly underlines the feelings of the characters and the atmosphere that arises through his reading.

A summer of learning
Just because you find out your opposites doesn’t mean you can’t make it work. After the ceremony Kaia & Nolen knew they were meant for each other & happy to know the stars agreed. But as they follow through with their plan to split their summer between their homes things get rough & a divide starts to build. Kaia’s parents help encourage her to try & rebuild the bridge that’s crumbling between her & Nolen. She agrees to continue with their summer plans & even though Nolens home is far different from what she expected they are able to slow down & learn more about each other. These novellas are just as good as the actual story line. Loving it!

Lovely
If you are reading this series, (which I highly recommend!), I would suggest also reading the novellas between each main book. They do fill in all the blanks. This book was cute and expanded on the relationship of two of our beloved characters, and gave some more insight into their personalities and relationship! Nolen and Kaia are my favorite couple, and when they were revealed as mates, I just knew there were going to be some challenges!
