Still delightful to read, even as an adult

This series was one of my absolute favorites as a child in the 90s, and I have to say that even as an adult many years later it is just as much of a delight to revisit this series, if not even better with a more matured view on things. I highly recommend the entire series.

Most engaging book in series so far!

This plotline was the most interesting of the first 3 stories (haven't heard 4th yet). Also, the main characters have grown some, which helps a lot with their likeability. It's intriguing that each of these books have had different themes: 1) bildungsroman, 2) political intrigue, 3) exploring elements that would be considered magical on our world. Would like to read more series that meander characters through a variety of concepts like this.

Narrator does an excellent job with distinct voices and effects, sparingly, where needed for the story. A few times, 2 of the main characters' voices are difficult to differentiate, and I realize after a moment that the other one is speaking. But otherwise, it's remarkable.

Just as I imagined

When I was younger. about 12 or 13 I read the then Trilogy of Pit Dragon books. This retelling of the story makes me fall into nostalgia and their voices are just as I imagined they would be. it's a wonderful tale and a greater adventure.

not as captivating as the first two

it's an interesting addition, but not as captivating as the first two. maybe I just miss the pits but a plot synopsis in one sentence that really tells the bulk of the story feels lacking. I'm also not as fond of the narrator.

Disappointed

Less action than the first two books, not much of the primary story. In fact, I saw not much point to it. I suppose it shows more character development between the two main characters and growth in maturity for them... But as a story it's disappointing. Further, I'm reading the fourth book right now and it seems that they lose all the development they gained and the most important plot point in this book, the sendings, is kind of just a neat side note.
