About this listen

She wanted a love for all time.

A life of love lost and heartbreak has cursed the women in Bronte Hughes' family for generations. When she discovers a device that allows her to slip through time, Bronte decides the key to obtaining true love for herself lies in mending the tragedies of the past and restoring a legacy of love fate has robbed from her family...beginning with saving her great-great grandfather from setting sail on the ill-fated voyage of the Titanic.

He searched for a life with purpose.

Good friends and a loving family provided Tris MacKintosh with ample duty and obligation, but none of the challenge and purpose he yearned for in life. When a mysterious young woman appears in a suspiciously timely fashion - not once, but twice - to save his closest friend from death, he's presented with more intrigue than he's experienced in years. Contributing to the war effort against Germany once seemed his best chance to live with purpose and make a mark....

However, with Bronte at his side, Tris soon realizes there is a greater opportunity awaiting him. A chance to be a part of a love to last forever, to change the future...and to save the world. Soon . . .

Back and forth

I love the story. Very adventurous and warm hearted. Old Donald is a character I love in all your historical time travel novels. It’s the reason I chose this one, just to see what he was up to.😂

Recommend feel good read

Thoroughly enjoyable listen, story compelling, kept me listening into the small hours rather than sleeping, as it seems all this authors books do.

Totally Rocking Time Travel!! Donall is back!

Ok, first the cover art does not reflect the book at all. I am a medieval fan and the illustration doesn't reflect the contents. I would be disappointed but trusted the Author after reading her boxed set a few days ago.

That done, you will find that she only goes back to about 1912 and 1914. The story still captivated me and captured my heart.

Onto the next...

Not a fan of the heroine

I almost didn’t finish the story because the heroine is so annoying and not one I would root for. The story itself had too many holes in it. I have like other books the author has written, just not this one.

Different storyline

This is a different storyline and I enjoyed it. I especially love the laugh out loud places I got to enjoy. However, the cover picture in no way resembles the time period of this novel. It’s set in 1914 just before the beginning of UK’s involvement of WWI. The picture on the cover looks more like the late 1600’s.

A different kind of heroine.

I had a hard time liking this heroine or enjoying any banter she was involved in until about chapter 18. This heroine is very smart but lacked an ounce of common sense as to what to speak about in mixed company. Basically she is a woman without a filter.
I personally don’t like brass, smart mouth argumentative, people. BUT…. The second have of the story the heroine became more endearing to me because of her concern and the risks she takes for others. And eventually love does soften her a bit.
Overall, I thought it was a good story. But not my favorite heroine.

Enjoyable despite…

Great story, but could definitely do without the politics. Books are my escape from today’s world and times.

Good read and narration..

So, two things! 1) This could have been about 150 pages shorter, that’s about how many pages I skipped throughout the story. There were sooo many descriptions of sooo many useless things. The “shinty game” instructions just went on forever. I found myself skimming a lot.

2) I almost quit reading this because I stopped to read some reviews on Goodreads and one reviewer said this was a “cliffhanger.” That couldn’t have been further from the truth. Bronte and Tris got their HEA and it left it open for the next book. NO CLIFFHANGER!

Overall, it was a cute story, about Auld Donell, a magic little man from Ms. Fortin’s other time travel books, who slipped a device to Bronte that allowed her to travel back into the 1900’s to save her great great grandfather from dying on the Titanic, then being hit by a car, then from dying from a supposed bee sting. AND that’s where she met Tris and fell in love.

The only annoying think in this book was the times Bronte got PO’d because she was such a feminist, and someone would say something in 1914 that made perfect sense at the time and she would go off on that person because of their “backward” thinking, or because they didn’t see things the way she did. It’s rather silly. I hate when a female goes back and doesn’t even try to think and act and speak the way everyone from that time does.

There were 3 graphic sex scenes, too many, if you ask me. And the F-bomb was used 5 times.

As to the narration: Kirsten Potter is one of the best female narrators out there. Both her voices and emotions are wonderful.

Surprisingly good!

Surprisingly good! I almost dismissed it given the cheesy (and misleading- since the story is set in the early 1900's) cover "art", but I'm glad I didn't. I enjoyed the story and will listen to the next one.
