Acerca de esta escucha

Georgina, Princess of Wales, has always known her destiny, but she never expected duty to call so soon. When her father dies suddenly, she is called back from her Royal Navy post to assume the crown. While the people acclaim their new Queen, Great Britain's first openly gay monarch, all George feels is the isolation of her station.

Beatrice Elliot's staunch anti-monarchist views have always been a point of gentle contention with her working class, royalty-loving parents. When Bea, director of a hospice charity, must spend six months working with Queen Georgina, her charity's new patron, sparks fly and passion blooms. But is love enough to bridge the gap between Bethnal Green and Buckingham Palace?

I really enjoyed the book thought it was better than actually reading it myself. I felt I was watching a movie and it was great. Leslie Parkin did a great job. This is worth listening to!

Once again Jenny Frame has captured my heart with a story full of love and wonder. It really felt like a fairy tale and the modern/futuristic setting surprised me in a pleasant way. The whole inteli-flesh thing was neat, some might say it's a bit contrived, just as an excuse for George to be able to feel while having sex with Bea, but I think it was perfectly explained and presented, even mentioning it's more traditional uses.

The voice by Lesley Parkin left a little to desire, but she shined in the right moments giving a perfect emotional tone to some scenes, even if she sounded a bit monotone other times. By far her best performances were Julian and Queen Adriana, perfectly capturing his snobbish and condescending tone and her wise and tought personality. George sounded the same most of the time, not much emotion in her voice, but I attribute that more to her own personality.

Overall this is a fantastic book that I would recommend to anyone looking for a modern fairy tale about a Queen falling in love with an ordinary girl, about how they met and how in the end they lived happily ever after.

Love this book with all my heart

i have always loved the royal trope, but haven’t found a story that included a lesbian couple. this was great!!! classic story with realistic characters and story line.

With one exception, I liked this story, its characters, and its dialog. I hope to hear more about the ladies at the periphery of the story.

I have, after several books related to the topic, come to appreciate the differences between a public and private life. I'm a fairly anonymous bystander to life as it passes me by. I don't strive for attention, though o occasionally get it. I've developed an educated tolerance/awareness/synicalness about media attention to sell this rag or that movie based on the value of gossip and the tendency of the less educated to be swept up in the awe-ness of someone who has achieved or garnered popular attention. At the same time, thanks to books like A Royal Romance, The Gravity Between Us, and Waiting in the Wings, among others, I have gained a different appreciation for the exposed private lives of people in the public eye.

The one exception mentioned in my first sentence was the change from sweetly passionate to something else. I am about 80% sure that the author (or her editors) intended to express the all-consuming sense of trust by exposing dreams and fantasies. Also, that, "this one person, without being told, knows my fantasies and meets them eagerly." Properness is consistent. George's character is about constancy, even if Bea brings out other sides of her.

I'm not a prude (exactly). I get it when it is eased into (no pun intended). Here we diverted abruptly.
Otherwise, top notch!

This is my second time listening to this book and it was just as enjoyable as the first listen.
I love that this is set in the future vs the past and yet isn’t weighed down with crazy new tech stuff. The story definitely focuses on the love story between the two MCs.
It’s a charming tale. Working class meets royal and falls in love. The adoration that George has for Bea is adorable. But it is a little smothering toward the end, I won’t lie. Not terrible so but enough that it feels a little redundant in places. That being said, it could just be George’s character—especially since she’d never experienced love before.
Overall though, it’s a wonderful book. And I would recommend.

I love a good royal romance
