About this listen

What would you do if you were surviving on stale bread and water, and were offered a feast? All it would cost you is your unquestioning aid. Thomas and Sarentha, two fugitive lumberjacks, find themselves in this exact position when a mysterious nobleman offers them more money than they ever dreamt possible. Teaming up with the nobleman’s spirited niece, Eliza, they travel around the Tamorran Empire, and beyond.

Through their adventures, they learn that the world is far larger, and more magical, than they could have imagined. At the heart of it all is the reason for the nobleman’s secrecy: A terrifying truth, lost to time.

A wonderful adventure!

A great book to get into if you're craving a remarkable journey. I found myself enjoying the adventure as these characters discover themselves and blossom from humble beginnings. With lots of intriguing moments and a shocking ending, you'll be hooked from beginning to end.

I love this book.

It was very interesting. I loved the story. It almost goes hand to hand with the Hobbits. The ending takes unexpected turn, leaving you too eager for the next book.

Great book!

lately I've been more in sci fi kick but this is exactly the book i needed to renew my interest in fantasy! you've really started something special! thank you for getting this converted to audible. i have dyslexia and really have issues reading books the old fashioned way, this is so much better. your narrator was great as well he breathed life into what was already a great book!

A decent start.

This book reads a lot like A Dungeons and Dragons game. There is magic and fantasy races in abundance. There are many hooks that I would love to see revisited later. The narrative is simple and ready to follow, and I would place this more toward young adults or teens.

The narrator irked me. I don't know if it was just his inflection or his pronunciation of certain words. His character voices sounded very familiar and it made it difficult to discern who was soaking at times.

For a first book, this is a wonderful effort. I look forward to reading the rest of the story.
