Publisher's summary

The year is 1499. As Alexandra Dunn’s farmhouse is set ablaze, her grandfather places precious stones in her palm, telling her she has until the next full moon to return with a hero ... a brave, chivalrous knight to help save her family. Familiar objects become a blur as she is swallowed in darkness. Suddenly Alexandra is standing in the middle of Central Park, but she has no time to ponder on the wondrous powers of the stones or the amazing sights before her ... she must find a hero before all is lost.

Joe McFarland would be the first to admit that he’s far from hero material … definitely not the man she’s looking for. A firm believer in quietude and non-violence, he avoids conflict at all costs. At 34, he is one of the younger Professors at NYU where he lectures and teaches History: The High Middle Ages.

Joe’s organized, well-structured life begins to unravel the moment he meets Alexandra Dunn. He figures she majored in medieval history before going off the deep end … until days later when he is miraculously transported through time, to 1499 England. Dressed in Dockers and a button-down shirt, Joe thought he was ready for anything ... anything but this!

An armored man with a very authentic looking broadsword is about to strike him down. With only nail clippers and a Bic to defend himself, Joe has no time to think about such an implausible phenomenon as traveling through time … not if he wants to live to see another day.

Large parts Missing

This one's a disappointment. Seemed like something was missing from this story line. So much that it was beyond me to get through it. I really dislike it when this happens because drats, these do cost us money. I honestly wish we could get our money back when we are unable to listen to the entire books we pay for.

Did not like the narration

If the narration would have been a dual narration it would have made for a good listen. The story was good. I always enjoy time traveling stories. But Sarah Wilds just did not have the voice to read this book. Her male voice was very much female trying to sound male in a little girl voice. I do not understand why they do not publish these books to entertain. Most the time I would enjoy listening to books instead of watching a movie.

Not as good as RETURN OF TH E ROSE but it kept my interest just the same. It was a good read.

it was ok

I have read way better time travel romance novels, it isn't plausible that people just accept that they have traveled forward or backwards in time, and go about life la di da.

Really Bad Narrator which Spoils this Book!

What did you like best about A Knight in Central Park? What did you like least?

It was really difficult to get into this book BECAUSE THE NARRATOR was so bad, almost totally monotoned. I love time travel stories. I did feel that this book might have been more interesting with a different narrator, such as Kathrine Kellgren, who performed Ragan's "Return of the Rose." As it is, I was tempted to give it a "0" for all catagories. Please use a different narrator to give this book a chance!

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

I thought the theme was good. Did need more dialog --- or did I just miss it because of the narrator?

Would you be willing to try another one of Heather Wilds’s performances?

No!

If this book were a movie would you go see it?

Not sure.

Any additional comments?

I have listened to many audible books. Without a doubt, the narrator can make or break the book for me. This narrator's voice was clear but there was no energy in it to keep you interested, no passion. My favorite narrator is Kathrine Kellgren and I do search for books that she narrates. I have not been disappointed yet. Miss Wilde has a nice voice but she could take some lessons from Miss Kellgren.

Not what I was looking for...

I love time travel novels, but this one was just too light and silly for me. I didn't finish it.

I really wanted to like it but........

A time travel romance but something was lost during the travelling I'm afraid. I just can't put my finger on what was really wrong with this story, I think it skimmed over a lot of details and, as a result, it was just a light totally 'silly' type story. It was like a recipe with a missing ingredient and you know that something is missing but you can't guess what it is.

I didn't like the narrator either she was so s l o w so double speed it if you're going to purchase it.

I've already downloaded Return of the Rose otherwise I wouldn't have bothered until it was on sale.

Worth my credit? No, I could quite happily of lived my life without ever hearing this tale. But, if it's on sale, and you're wanting a light listen, then maybe yes.

Jeeez..

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

NO!! The narrator is just terrible and I gave it 3 stars for overall and story because it seems like it will be a good story but I've only reached 10% right now and I'm finished listening. I will finish the story by reading it. Joe's voice sounds just like Alexandra's. The narrator doesn"t even try to make it sound like a male. All she does is read the book. AND not a bit of emotion when she reads.

Would you be willing to try another one of Heather Wilds’s performances?

Absolutely not!

Did A Knight in Central Park inspire you to do anything?

Yeah.. Read or listen to another time travel.

Any additional comments?

If this narrator is being paid to read this book someone is wasting their money. She could take lessons from Katherine Kellgren. That's one wonderful narrator. So much emotion when she reads, anger, joy, sadness, love, hate, etc. She reads a book like it should be read.

A fantastic time travel

This is a time travel listen.
The heroine is from Medival times that needs help against the Kings men. The hero is set in modern day . He lives in New York . Out of the blue the heroine shows up right in front of him and she is flooded. She sees bicycles , tall buildings. She doesn’t know how to convince him what she says is true
