Acerca de esta escucha

With stories of hidden treasure and secret chambers, past and present collide in Hannah Dennison's A Killer Ball at Honeychurch Hall.

“This upstairs downstairs cozy should please Downton Abbey fans” (Publishers Weekly)

When antique dealer Kat Stanford stumbles upon the partially mummified body of a young woman in an abandoned wing at Honeychurch Hall, suspicion falls on those who had been living there many years ago. And it appears that the deceased had been murdered. Given her mother Iris’s checkered past, Kat is not surprised to learn that Iris knew the victim.

Meanwhile, the unexpected appearance of former lothario Bryan Laney sets female hearts aflutter. Despite the passing years, time has not dampened his ardor for Iris, but the feeling is not reciprocated.

As Kat becomes embroiled once more in her mother’s mysterious and tumultuous bygone days, she comes to realize that life is never black and white, and sometimes it is necessary to risk your own life to protect the lives of the ones you love.

I love the Honeychurch Mysteries and can’t wait for more of them. A Killer Ball was soo great. The characters and the comedy had me doubling over with laughter at times. There needs to be a BBC or PBS mini series based on these

Need a Mini Series on TV

A good story, but the narrator as the character, Kate, is really irritating too lyrical.

good but the long lists of items and verbatim repetitions of some passages from previous books are a trifle tedious.

2nd book

I love the descriptive details of the area and the characters. The storyline is very good and interesting. It was difficult to put this one down. I think the author had another idea in mind for Kat’s character. The narrator uses a voice for her that makes her sound old, snippy, irritable, hysterical, bitchy, Whiny, and snobby. If I try to ignore the narrator’s Kat voice, I get the impression that she’s actually young looking and has a young happy attitude.

Very enjoyable

so sorry women have to be portrayed as air heads. would love to see a little competence .

I enjoyed the first of the Honey Church Hall mysteries but have found it increasingly painful to listen to the narrators screeching interpretation of some of the characters, namely Iris. Story was fun but I’m afraid I may never be able to listen through another book narrated by Elaine Wise.

Narrator kills the story

I really did not enjoy this book. The play and characters were not engaging and the narrator voiced the child in the book with a horrible whiny voice. I had to stop listening about a quarter of the way in based on that alone.

Dreadful - Couldn't finish it
