About this listen

Essence best-selling author Travis Hunter is acclaimed for enthralling novels like A One Woman Man.

In this compelling urban tale, Karim Spencer becomes a successful businessman - despite being raised by a bootlegger in a bad section of town. His sister is a down-on-her-luck stripper with a gangsta-wannabe son, and his despondent brother is serving a life sentence for a murder he didn't commit.

Although Karim wants to help his siblings, he isn't sure where to begin. When he unearths a long-buried secret, Karim fears he doesn't have what it takes to set his nephew on the straight and narrow and clear his brother of his bogus conviction - without jeopardizing his own future and tearing his family apart.

Kevin R. Free's gritty narration portrays the broken dreams and simmering frustration of conflicted characters who struggle to win with the cards life has dealt them.

Aewsome!

What did you love best about A Family Sin?

It reminding of a lot of families that may be self destructing themselves from the past. The past was destroying his (Kareem) life. So glad he had a strong family support in his corner to remain him of the meaning of letting go and grasp the future. Don't sleep on Travis Hunter all his books are good, I've have read majority of them and my next 2 books will be Momma's a Virgin and Something to die for, those are the only reads I have not read. Great author

What did you like best about this story?

His honesty and faithfulness to his family

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Somewhat, It would have been better (to me) if certain characters could play it out, and what I mean by that is; it's funny to hear a man trying to talk like a lady and a child, would have been better to have them in character. I understand that cost money, but it would have been cool.

Who was the most memorable character of A Family Sin and why?

Momma Mae, the wisdom that came from her (his) mouth reminded me of the big mommas some of these children will probably never have the privileged of knowing.

Any additional comments?

The ending was cool, but whatever happen to Senior? Did he get help or did they leave him on the back porch in his tighties whities?
