About this listen

An Amazon Top 100 Best Seller

He might not be the devil, but working under him for six weeks is my idea of hell.

Hayes Flynn is an arrogant jerk known best for his scotch habit and the way he spreads his British “charm” all over Hollywood, never with the same woman twice.

He’s the last person I want to work for - except he has a face I can’t look away from, and the longer we’re together, the harder he is to hate. Because under that smug exterior is a heart he doesn’t want to show - one that was badly broken a decade earlier.

A part of me wants to fix it for him before I leave…but can I do it without breaking my own in the process?

Can’t get enough of this book

I’ve read (now listened to) this book so many times, three times in the last month alone. This is the first story I read by the author. I immediately went on a spree and read everything she already produced in no time. She is immensely talented.
I fell in love with the love and relationship of these characters. The humor and dialogue drew me in, and their longing for each other got me hooked on this for good.

Slow Burn Deliciousness

I have been wanting to read/listen to A Deal with the Devil for a long time and it was so worth the wait. I loved it. It was fun, flirty, angsty and slow burn deliciousness.

Tali was such a selfless character who put everyone’s needs before her own. She made a lot of assumptions and needed to find her the confidence to stand up for what and whom she wanted. Her growth throughout the story was refreshing.

Hayes was a bit of a mystery at first since it’s told in Tali’s POV. I would be lying if I didn’t say that I do really wish that we would have gotten some of the story from his POV. I always think that adds to the story, but even without that, I was completely in love with Hayes by the end. He was so misunderstood by Tali at first and once you got to know him, you realized that he had a huge heart underneath all his ego and bluster.

The banter between these two was so much FUN and their chemistry was electric. It was very much a slow burn to their romance and it was incredible. I loved how they opened up each other’s worlds and helped each other grow.
Rose Dioro was a new narrator for me and I absolutely loved her. Her British accent was superb and I could feel the emotion in her voice. She had me completely immersed in the story.

A Deal with the Devil was my first book by Elizabeth O’Roark and now I am a fan. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.

Great Job

Tali takes a job filling in as an assistant for her best friend's boss. But for some reason, they quickly enter into this enemy relationship. As usual, the more two people start to hate each other, the more the tension builds and things start to explode. They can't help but be drawn together. Tali was a sweet character and we had this told strictly in her POV. It was a little hard listening to the audio only in the female narrators voice but I did get used to it.

A fabulous audio but a super slow angsty burn

I really really wanted to love this book but it was just a little too slow burn/angsty for my liking. The audio version was incredibly enjoyable and kept me listening until the end! Rose Dioro did a fabulous job narrating this whole book solo! She showed so much emotion in her voice and her British accent for Hayes was so well done!

This book is a workplace romance with an enemies to lovers vibe. Hayes is a celebrity plastic surgeon and when his assistant goes out of town to do an adoption, he fills the position with his friend Talia. She’s a writer and doesn’t want to do the job but she is in need of money as she already used up her book advance and she’s having trouble finishing it. At first, I was not a Hayes fan as he was just a cocky jerk and a complete player. However I knew this going in from the blurb so I kept reading and I’m glad I did! Piece by piece he had me liking him more and more. Talia was such an enjoyable and likable character from the start! She was sweet and kind but definitely didn’t let arrogant men like Hayes give her crap and I loved her banter back with him! Overall, the pace of the story just was too slow for me as it felt like the book was more build up than there was romance. I will be reading book 2 as this is a new to me author and I do really enjoy her way with words!

Unexpectedly Captivating

Because I know myself and how predictable I can be, I went into this listen with low expectations. I just cannot get enough of enemies to lovers, but at some point, the tropes begin to feel repetitive and grumpy boss with a sunshine assistant is simply a redundant crowd pleaser. It's the PF Changs of romance novel tropes. However, I was so pleasantly surprised by this book!

Narration- You know you are so far down the rabbit hole of romance novel binging when having a single narrator is shocking. I have grown so accustomed to dual perspective narration, I wasn't sure how this would go. Rose Dioro did a fantastic job! She deserves a big WELL DONE CHAP in your best British accent. Speaking of British accents, let's all give Rose Dioro a Blanche Devereaux hot and bothered round of applause at how well Hayes was narrated.

The Story- I thought the author did a wonderful job of bringing depth into a boss/employee relationship. Both the FMC and MMC had enough going on in their lives outside of the working dynamic, I think it helped build the foundation for a story that felt like it had substance. Tali was relatable- battling grief, family addiction (Trigger Warning) and trying to land on her feet after a year of set backs, made the fact she had a hot, rich doctor boss swoop in (like the alpha he is) tolerable. Hayes also had family/personal issues that, when revealed, did create an even balance of feeling empathy for him instead of an eye roll.

Rating: 4.5 Stars- This story was memorable with good narration that flowed nicely together with the perfect amount of sweet moments and sassy banter.

Hugely entertaining story!!

A Deal with the Devil , an Audiobook by Elizabeth O’Roark, is the story of Hayes and Tali. There was plenty of promise at the beginning of this wonderful story!!! It did drag a tiny bit towards the middle, but, overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this story!!! She has an incredible night with a man…only to discover later that he is her horrible employer! He’s had an extremely bad previous relationship, making him unavailable…ever!

The continuous back-and-forth between these characters was hugely entertaining!! I liked them and enjoyed the storyline as well!!! Seemed a little long for me….but, thoroughly enjoyable regardless!!!

This Audiobook was narrated by Rose Dioro, who did an excellent job with these character interpretations!! She was phenomenal!!!! Kudos on a job well done!!!

I am volunteering to leave a review for an Advance Reader Copy of this Audiobook.

Angsty Slow-burn Romance

Devil With The Devil by Elizabeth O'Roark is a boss-employee romance with a broody hero.

Hayes and Tali's story was slow-burn and angsty with both the hero and heroine struggling with insecurities, past trauma and family drama. I enjoyed the sweet ending.

Rose Dioro performance of this single pov romance was brilliant, she never disappoints.

Sizzling, swoony slow burn

A Deal with the Devil by Elizabeth O’Roark was a sizzling swoony slow burn workplace romance that I couldn’t stop listening to. This was my first book by O’Roark and it will not be my last. Hayes and Tali seemed to be complete opposites, but as layer by layer were pulled back, they learned to trust each other, and their attraction was undeniable.

Rose Dioro narrates this audiobook, and was simply perfection at bringing Tali and Hayes’ story to life. Tali is new to L.A. and has ambitions to be an author, but temporarily accepted a personal assistant position to a hunky arrogant British doctor, Hayes. Rose portrayed Tali’s wants, vulnerabilities, and determination to stand up to her family and go after her dreams brilliantly. Plus Rose’s talented performance of Hayes in his broody British accent was oh so swoony! I really wanted to hate Hayes, but found myself absolutely in love with his dedication and commitment to Tali.

Overall I really enjoyed this book and audio! If you love a book with a British hot Playboy doctor who just might change his ways, a fierce and sassy heroine, doctor visits, a dreamy vacation getaway, slow burn so good steamy times, passionate and caring friends, and a HEA that will make your heart super satisfied and so happy, then I recommend this book! I’m looking forward more from Elizabeth O’Roark.

Great Listen

This narrator is new to me but she did not disappoint. I definitely have my favorite narrators and am always cautiously optimistic when trying a new narrator. Rose Dioro was pleasantly surprising. Well done!

As for the story, I loved this enemies to lovers, with witty banter and palpable chemistry. Lots of sexual tension and hilarious jabs thrown. Loved it!
