Publisher's summary

Audible Studios presents a brand new recording of Charles Dickens' timeless seasonal story A Christmas Carol, performed by Hugh Grant.

First published in 1843, it tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a mean and unpleasant man who dislikes people generally and Christmas especially.

One Christmas Eve he is visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come and given a glimpse of the many homes and lives which Scrooge has touched in his wretched life to date. After their visits, Scrooge is transformed into a kinder, gentler man.

Hugh Grant Christmas Gift

Hugh gives the Christmas gift of narration to this holiday classic. His story telling gave me a new appreciation of just listening rather than tradition of watching the movie. I loved it!

I return to this story every year.

Grant’s voice is richer than I normally think of it and he provides subtle variations that aid the story without distracting one from it.

Started as an obligation, finished as a joy

It's been decades since I read CC, and as a nominal adult, I find it's much funnier than I'd realised in those days.
Grant delivers Dickens' dry humour to perfection, and handles both the narration and all the characters seamlessly. My fond childhood memories of my father's annual reading of this book to our family have been outdone handsomely!

A Christmas Carol

I have seen many adaptations of this on screen and stage but had never actually read the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this and would have given it ten stars if they were there!
