About this listen
Three warriors. An epic Quest. They are the world's last hope....
All-powerful and terrifying, the Serpent M'gulfn is poised to lay waste to the Earth and its mysterious Planes. Only three have the courage to challenge it: Ashurek, the fell prince of Gorethria, Estarinel from the gentle island of Forluin, and the silent, sinister Medrian.
Aided by the denizens of the fabulous Blue Plane, they are sent aboard the mystical ship The Star of Filmoriel back to Earth to seek the Silver Staff - a strange weapon that may prove more dangerous than the Serpent itself. Caught between the machinations of the heartless Grey Ones and the sorcerer-priestess Arlenmia, they cross fantastical landscapes and battle demons. As they forge into the frozen desolate wastes of the Arctic, their Quest to defeat the Serpent becomes ever more perilous and desperate. But the greatest danger of all lies in their midst.

I really like this series!
The author has quite an imagination and builds a unique world and magic system. When I first started listening to the first book I thought it was miscategorized as fantasy, when it should have been categorized as sci-fi. However it a true Epic Quest Fantasy. I felt that I was right there with the characters. The narrator is excellent! He has numerous character voices, and the unique voice that he uses for each different character is suitable for that individual character, and he really captures the characters personality, and brings them to life. The only thing that I don't like about the narrator is that he talks way too fast for me, so I had to listen at 0.5x. Dropping the speed down to 0.5x made it much more enjoyable for me. I recommend this book to people who like world building and novel magic systems when selecting Epic Fantasy.
I'll definitely listen to more books by Freda Warrington.
