Acerca de esta escucha

This program is read by former Entertainment Tonight host Mark Steines, with a foreword read by Patricia Heaton and an introduction read by the author.

From the pediatrician who became an Internet sensation with the “Hamilton Hold” in a YouTube video about how to calm a crying baby comes a one-of-a-kind resource to guide you through the earliest moments of your child’s life - and help you to parent with common sense and confidence.

Robert C. Hamilton, MD, has spent more than three decades caring for newborns. In his practice, Dr. Bob has seen it all - what works, what doesn’t. How can you get your baby to nurse, sleep, and maybe even cease crying? What strategies can help you connect and communicate with your infant? What important decisions will you make during the first year for your child, yourself, and your partner?

Here, Dr. Bob shares his clear, sensible, warm advice - as well as all the latest scientific data and research - on how to:

  • Offer comfort to a crying newborn using the “Hold”
  • Gently teach your baby how to sleep (and get some sleep yourself)
  • Establish healthy patterns
  • Breastfeed, formula-feed, or bottle-feed using either
  • Play!
  • Manage screen time in your home
  • And more to help you navigate the unforgettable first year of your child’s life

I honestly loved this title. It’s a practical guide for the ones like me who didn’t know a single thing about newborns.

Loved hearing the author read the introduction and hearing the motivation and outline of the book. Appreciated Christian worldview of book and balanced medical perspective with emphasis on importance of family. As a mostly clueless guy going into this, I really appreciated the overview of pregnancy, labor, birth, and the different stages within the first few years, along with info, recommendations, and tips for each part.

Great overview book with great insight!

I really enjoyed this book. Dr. Hamilton includes the most updated research and studies, while offering timeless advice.  I am pregnant with my 3rd child and still learned new techniques, strategies, and ways of thinking about raising children. The book is funny and informative.  Dr. Hamilton’s words come from the heart--he feels like a trusted, experienced family member offering the most heartfelt, thoughtful advice based on years of professional experience and knowledge, and personal insight and stories. I have this book on my night stand and plan on referencing it often (especially on the chapters relating to feeding and helping the baby sleep through the night!)

This book puts way too much basis on christianity and christianity alone otherwise you are "wicked". With how often it's brought up and pushed it should be labeled as a christian values book. In the end he also shames people for not having a bunch of kids in their early 20s and that people are selfish and want to have homes and vacations and stable jobs before children these days. HOW IS THAT SELFISH. It's more selfish to bring children into the world when you cannot support yourself yet. This isn't the 50s and houses cost a lot more than $6,000.00 these days. He also talks about how he is so worried the human race will die out due to everyone having less children. SIR 7.8 hundred million people are currently living on the planet (more than ever before) and we are running out of resources which should be your concern over people "only" having 2 kids on average. GARBAGE. The view point he pushes is a very old and outdated one. He also came across as racially and socioeconomically insensitive multiple times. Wish I could return. You can tell who he votes for and I bet it's against women's rights.

Don't buy this unless you are very christian
