Publisher's summary

Welcome to '50sVille: The town you will absolutely love, or else...

Imagine a town where the people perpetually live in the 1950s, a place where time has all but stopped and where everyone loves his family, job, and life. In this strange place, only a select few people ever leave the city limits, and even then they leave reluctantly.

This is what 15-year old Benjamin Granault faces as, through a string of amazing events, he finds himself living in this town. A place where he can never talk about modern technology or current events, a place where being an outsider can cost a person his life and being part of the community may very well cost more.

Follow the adventures of Benjamin Granault in '50sVille, the strangest town Indiana has ever been unaware of.

Well Done!

This is the final installment to the series and is the best yet! I found myself actually getting irritated when I got interrupted. Anyway, this series is an entertaining listen. It doesn't have nonstop action and adventure from the beginning to the end. What it has is a quiet suspense and mystery that doesn't truly unravel until the end. The story starts with Ben visiting 50s Ville and ends with Ben visiting 50s Ville. All that happens in-between is something you'll have to get the series to know. Just know that it subtly pulls you in and keeps you until the last word is spoken. I truly enjoyed this series and found this installment quite engaging. This installment does have plenty of action, 'edge of your seat' suspense, mystery and heartwarming friendship. This book answers all the questions the other four brought up and leaves you with a good feeling about the ending. The narration was well done. The only complaint I have is that the voices could've been more distinct from each other. There is enough distinction to know a different character is speaking but it is not always immediate which one. Outside of that, the narration does bring the story to life and definitely makes the listening experience more enjoyable.

Loved this series!

Ok, so I have to be honest. I totally tried this series hoping it would be similar to Fallout, being that the 50s theme is so prevalent. It wasn't at all what I expected, but in spite of this I loved it. The author does an amazing job of placing the reader in 50sville, so much so that I didn't want this series to end. I'm thrilled of how it ended, though, because all of my questions and loose ends were tied up.

The audio quality of the entire series was great. I don't understand why there were five different narrators, but each did this series justice.

I received this audiobook from the narrator/author/publisher in exchange for an honest review via Audiobook Boom.

Good read

My fifth read from Dr. Paul Ibbetson and the final booking the ‘50s ville quintet. Another enjoyable short read in the serial that has captivated my attention. I was given an Audible copy of this book & am voluntarily reviewing it. Reminiscent of the early writings of Stephen King. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

It was still good.

I enjoyed the story although the ending fell a little flat. The narrator did not feel right for the story unlike the others. This was still a great little series.

The end.

I've listen to all 5 books in the serie in sequence. They are not that long and the story is pretty much continuous so I recommend to read it/listen all 5 books too. You will not want to stop in the middle.
I will review all 5 books and give stars individual for each.
The story is about a boy that every year goes to an event in a town that is stuck in the 50's. In the first book we get to meet this town and some of it's inhabitants. But then his father dies and the plot begins. For his own protection he has to hide in the town and live there under their rules (book 2). Those first 2 books were my favorite. As well as the narrators. The story reminded me of "The Stepford Wives" but in different way. The group of kids also reminded me a lot of Steven Spielberg films.
After that the story turns into a darker tale, when we discover the mystery behind the town. I think of it like a Edgar Allan Poe tale. I love them, the dark, the mystery, the danger, the thrill, the supernatural flare. The thing is they always seem to never go too deep, being just a tale. In here we still get a lot of complexity, and cool characters, but for me it never really suppresses the expectations created on the first 2 books. Still worth reading to discover the full mystery and the final chapter.
It was a petty that there is a new narrator for every book. I would have preferred consistency, being a small length novela. All narrators are pretty good, but totally different from each other.

Sad to see it end.

Brilliant ending to this creepy story. I’m never going to even think let’s go back to the 50’s. Shudder. But, I’m going to miss the Purple Dragons.
Ben is a wonderfully written character. Hero, teen, wonderful boy.
Narrator is awesome for this book. Draws you into the story, which is a great narrator.
Now off to be sad it’s over.

It dead, Freedom and Lost

Of the books this is the saddest and but there was some good for the people of the community due to Ben actions. He may have gotten back family's money and business but he lost the good family that he loved nd who loved him and some friends the Purple Dragons who moved aways but the main lost was the feelings he liked about living in the 50's and most likely that was gone for good. Cathy and the group did go and stay with him for awhile but decided they wanted to go back home they were not really ready for this new world.
The feeling I got from this last dook was sadness he may have killed the beast but was it worth destroying everyone lives my thoughts was it was not. Yes the feeding and killings were wrong and needed to ended plus the mayor, school principal and o many other items needed to be dealt with and I believe they could have been handle in a different way.
