Story
Carroll Shelby wasn’t born to run. He was born to race - some of the fastest cars ever to tear up a speedway. The exciting new feature film Ford v Ferrari - starring Matt Damon as Shelby and Christian Bale as fellow racer Ken Miles - immortalizes the small-town Texas boy who won the notorious Le Mans 24-hour endurance challenge and changed the face of auto racing with the legendary Shelby Cobra. But there’s much more to his high-velocity, history-making story.

Story
This audiobook chronicles the birth and rise to greatness of the American auto industry through the life of Harley Earl, an eccentric six-foot-five, stuttering visionary who dropped out of college and went on to invent the profession of automobile styling, thereby revolutionized the way cars were made, marketed, and even imagined. Harleys Earl’s story qualifies as a bona fide American family saga. It began in the Michigan pine forest in the years after the Civil War, traveled across the Great Plains on the wheels of a covered wagon, and eventually settled in Hollywood, California.

Tech giants are hurling us toward a shiny, happy "self-driving" future, selling utopia but equally keen to advertise to a captive audience strapped into another expensive device. Are we destined, then, to become passengers, not drivers? Why We Drive reveals that much more may be at stake than we might think.

Story
In The Butchering Art, the historian Lindsey Fitzharris reveals the shocking world of 19th-century surgery on the eve of profound transformation. She conjures up early operating theaters - no place for the squeamish - and surgeons, working before anesthesia, who were lauded for their speed and brute strength. They were baffled by the persistent infections that kept mortality rates stubbornly high. A young, melancholy Quaker surgeon named Joseph Lister would solve the deadly riddle and change the course of history.

JUST PLAIN FUN!
This book doesn’t go on long enough! A great presentation of behind the scenes info on the classic 1954 Gullwing and its influence on the 2010 SLS AMG.
How they had the courage and tenacity to see this car through to production is a real testament to the entrepreneurial spirit.
I’m proud to say I’ve FINALLY LEARNED what the “SLS” stands for: (Super Light Sport!)
The allure of a car that can top out at nearly 200 mph is undeniable for car aficionados, and learning the back story was just plain fun.
The bonus PDF of over 50 pages is great to have on hand, and the “fun facts” at the end are indeed fun!
I’m looking forward to the other books in J.P. Evans’ series.
And don’t be put off that this is “Book 2” - get it!
You’ll be glad you did.

So much Fun History!
It is great to learn so much about Benz, speeds passing 200+ miles per hour in the 50s?!
That blew my mind. As a business owner I also noticed how Mercedes-Benz kept their customers hooked, making them want products that were not even out yet…that kind of follower-ship is built…wish this book didn’t end so fast!
