Publisher's summary

“Patterson and Lupica make a great team” (Carl Hiaasen) who get “deep into the lives of strong women” (Louise Penny) and Jane Smith is their greatest creation—a badass lawyer with a year to live.

“Jane Smith is the best character we’ve ever created. Bar none.”—James Patterson and Mike Lupica

Tough-as-nails criminal defense attorney Jane Smith is hip-deep in the murder trial of the century.

Actually, her charmless client might’ve committed several murders.

She’s also fallen in love with a wonderful guy. And an equally wonderful dog, a mutt.

But Jane doesn’t have much time. She’s just received a terminal diagnosis giving her twelve months.

Unless she’s murdered before her expiration date.

Average

Feels like a story I have read before. Not bad. Not great. Drags a bit in the middle

Unforgettable!

Excellent book; I will definitely read again, but this time I'll read it during the day so I can get some sleep! Highly Recommend

Too bad the ending was awful.

This book was good until the final chapter. I love a good cliffhanger but this wasn’t one. This was just the bad ending of a book that left a couple of important storylines incomplete. Could have been a great read.

Got good near the end

I did not like this book until late near the end, because so many different characters were introduced, and that’s difficult when it’s an audiobook. I kept going back to listen and keep things straight. I didn’t think the main character was very likable, because she was always congratulating herself on how extremely excellent she was, that said, I will be interested to read the next one in the series, to see if she has grown as she fights her terrible cancer. I hope she has another protagonist because I didn’t like that guy either!

Good story

Found myself drifting from narration quite often. Had to work on keeping attention. Overall, good book

Brilliant mystery

wow, what an earthy and unexpected treat. A brilliant level of suspense and personality have gone immediately into the next book. Thank you very much for shooting boredom between the eyes.

Engaging story with strong woman lead character

The story was engaging. What I disliked was the ending. It lacked a surprise or twist in the story. Maybe something about her sister or another minor character could have surfaced.

Sounds like index cards being read

Could be interesting, reader is okay but it sounds clinical. Lacking real emotions. It may be for you. I'd be sure to listen to sample before purchase. Not a favorite.
