本書は対人恐怖症でクラスメイトに「消しゴム貸して」とさえ言えなかった著者が、東大で身につけた、相手の立場に立って物事を考え説得する「客観的思考力」を武器にした「話し方」のしくみの本。

東大卒は実は口ベタな人が多い。にもかかわらず思った通りに人を動かすその秘訣は「相手が動く『理由』をつくっていること」にある。人が動くときそこにはかならず「理由」がある。だから他人を動かしたいと思うなら、相手の中に相手が動く「理由」をつくれば人は動く。それがわかっているから東大卒は、他人を動かすことがうまいのだ。

「東大の話し方」とは相手の脳ミソに逆らわず、相手が動く理由をつくり、「ノー」を食らわずに伝える方法をしくみ化したもの。著者はこの技術で、上場企業を中心に５０業種４万人の営業支援を行うとともに、コンペは８年間無敗という実績を持ち、年間２００件以上の講演や研修に登壇している。

「仕事時間の４割が人を動かすことに使われている」と言われているが、これが本当なら私たちは「他人を動かさずには生きていけない（食べていけない）」ことになる。これは対人恐怖症だった著者にとっては死活問題。この本はそんな中で著者が生きるために身につけた伝え方の技術の本。

どんなに口ベタな人でも「しくみ」を使えばうまくいく。仕事、恋愛、家族・友人とのコミュニケーション、どのようなシーンでも他人を動かしたいと思うとき、「東大の話し方」は役に立ちます。
