So he spends his spare time dreaming about all the possible paths he could take when he’s one of the big dogs. As Arthur’s creative thoughts help him climb mountains, shoot into space, and become a fabulous artist, he learns about what he would have to know and do to accomplish his goals. And as the hopeful hound shows off his ideas to the world, he grows even more excited about all the adventures he has in store.

My Journey Through War and Peace: Explorations of a Young Filmmaker, Feminist and Spiritual Seeker is based on Melissa Burch's experiences as a war journalist for BBC, CBS, and other networks. Her team was one of the first documentary crews allowed in the Soviet Union at the height of the Cold War, and she was featured in a New York Times story about her time in Afghanistan. She was just in her 20s when she traveled with the moujahedeen, filmed an attack on a Soviet convoy, slept with an Afghan commander, and climbed 14,000-foot mountains in the Hindu Kush.

In 2016, Dion Leonard, an ultramarathon runner, stumbled across a little stray dog while competing in a gruelling 155 mile race across the Gobi Desert. The pup earned the name Gobi as she went step for step with Dion, keeping pace with him for nearly 80 miles. What Gobi lacked in size, she made up for in heart. Dion had always focused on winning, but as he witnessed the incredible determination of this small animal, he felt something inside him change.

Arthur is wiggling with joy at the thought of sharing his favorite events. So when the year starts, the excitable dog decides to show everyone what he loves best about each amazing day. And from spring to winter, he’s getting set to unleash everything he’s learned about the calendar’s most fascinating times. Sending valentines in February and playing jokes in April leaves Arthur’s tail wagging harder than ever, but he’s still got loads of fun to come. And no matter the celebration at paw, he keeps searching for the thing that makes it unique.

Along the way she became enthralled with a distant part of her identity: her father's ceremonial adoption into the Tlingit, an Alaskan native people of legendary martial prowess. As an adult her childhood memories of Tlingit warrior tales would transform into a quest to understand her own connection to a distant people and their history.
