Ci sono poeti che non saranno mai letti. I motivi che possono determinare questa mancata opportunità sono molteplici. Ad esempio, un poeta può decidere di non divulgare i propri scritti, facendo in tal modo della poesia un'esperienza privata e discreta. Un altro, invece, può stabilire di non comporre poesie, rimanendo sì interprete (nella vita quotidiana) della propria indole poetica. Un altro, ancora, pur nutrendo il desiderio di pubblicare le proprie opere, può trovare soltanto l'indifferenza da parte dell'editoria.
