About Face is a memoir about my humble beginnings, serving in the Army and Army National Guard for 36 Years. The memoir is about life, being resilient, and success. I hope this memoir inspires, empowers and encourages people of all walks of life to serve.

Kargil: Untold Stories from the War takes you into the treacherous mountains where some of the Indian Army's bloodiest battles were fought. Interviewing war survivors and martyrs' families, Rachna Bisht Rawat tells stories of extraordinary human courage, of not just men in uniform but also those who loved them the most. With its gritty stories of incomparable bravery, Kargil: Untold Stories from the War is a tribute to the 527 young braves who gave up their lives for us - and the many who were ready to do it, too.

For many years now, I have wanted to write about my life, and especially about some of the people in my life. I'm sorry to say that due to my lack of faith in my writing skills, I gave up many times. In those days, I thought I wouldn't live past 60 years old, but here I am - 90 years old, and still going strong. Well, not so strong, but people are surprised when I tell them how old I am! And would you believe it - due to the encouragement of a few of my family, friends, VA doctors, nurses, and counselors, I have completed this book about the first 17-and-a-half years of my life.
