In early 2014, sparked by an assault by their government on peaceful students, Ukrainians rose up against a deeply corrupt, Moscow-backed regime. У цій книзі оповідається про кохання юної красуні Мотрі — дочки генерального судді Кочубея, пізніше страченого Мазепою, — і старіючого гетьмана.

У виданні вміщено другу з історичних повістей Богдана Лепкого, що складають трилогію (за визначенням автора) Мазепа. Насправді ж — повістей п'ять. І хоч вони послідовно відтворюють хронологію подій, кожна з них має самостійне значення, тому й публікувалася автором окремо. Головний герой усіх п'яти повістей — український гетьман Іван Мазепа (1639–1709), кінцевою метою політики якого було утвердження державності України. Повiсть Не вбивай присвячена подiям, якi зумовили страту Кочубея та Iскри. Внесок Богдана Лепкого до української літературної спадщини важко переоцінити.

Пентелеймон Куліш титанічно попрацював над своїм твором. Саме тому на сторінках роману читачів чекає детальне віддзеркалення подій, основних постатей тих часів їх наміри, вчинки, мотивації.
