“Letters From a Sailor” is a chronology of actual letters written by my father when he first joined the U.S.Navy, that he sent to his mother and father. This is the story of my father, a young man from a small town in Pennsylvania, who had never ventured outside the states of Pennsylvania and perhaps New Jersey before he joined the Navy. He joined the Navy to see the world and his observations and experiences are factually chronicled through letters he wrote home from 1935 to the beginning of 1937.
