Volume III of The Redacted Sherlock Holmes presents six more scintillating stories from the pen of Orlando Pearson about the great Baker Street detective.

The Adventure of the Dying Detective, in some editions simply titled The Dying Detective (first published 1913), is one of the 56 Sherlock Holmes short stories written by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Together with seven other stories, it is collected as His Last Bow (published 1917). Dr. Watson is called to tend Holmes, who is apparently dying of a rare tropical disease, Tapanuli fever, contracted while he was on a case. Watson is shocked, not having heard about his friend's illness. Mrs. Hudson says that Holmes has neither eaten nor drunk anything in three days.

During a late-night storm, the abrupt arrival of a distraught client on the doorstep of 221B Baker Street forces Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson to investigate a case that will lead them through the most sinister streets and alleys of London, confronting dangerous and vicious criminals along the way. The consulting detective and his companion are put to the test when a young woman is found brutally murdered in her lodgings. Scotland Yard is at a loss, and time is running out for the two protagonists, with scant evidence and a growing list of suspects.

The Adventure Of The Speckled band is the eighth short story and tenth (after A Study in Scarlet and The Sign Of Four) Sherlock Holmes story by British author Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. It is the eighth story in the collection Adventures Of Sherlock Holmes, it was published in Strand Magazine in February of 1892. The story tells of Helen Stoner, a soon to be married young woman who suspects her father may be trying to kill her in order to retain control of her inheritance. Convinced of her father's intentions, Helen turns to Holmes for help.

Edward Alexander Crowley was born on 12th October 1875 to wealthy parents in Royal Leamington Spa in Warwickshire. He was educated at Malvern College, Tonbridge School, Eastbourne College and finally Trinity College, Cambridge where he focused on his passions of mountaineering and poetry and published several volumes. His literary works were both prolific and covered many topics. In the early part of his career he published many poetry books, even plays, before his darker and more forceful works came to dominate his output.
