"Breaking Strain" was first published in the December 1949 issue of Thrilling Wonder Stories. It was one of the stories incorporated into the film and novel, 2001: A Space Odyssey. Sir Arthur C. Clarke (1917-2008) is regarded as one of the most-influential science fiction writers of all time.
