The Odyssey by Homer is an ancient Greek poem which tells the story of the hero Ulysses and his arduous journey home to Ithaca after the long and bloody Trojan war. After the ten-year battle and the fall of Troy, Ulysses intends to make his way back to his wife Penelope and his son Telemachus. The Gods are against him and he faces many obstacles in his path which delay his return for many years. With her husband gone for so long Penelope assumes that he is dead and never to return.

The title is Search Party, the idea being that we’re all out here looking for something, and my poems are my way of finding myself. A young black poet blending spoken word and rap; an inner city upbringing with a Cambridge education; a social consciousness with a satirical wit and infectious rhythm--George the Poet is the voice of a new generation. Search Party is a thought-provoking and deeply autobiographical collection.

When five little men come to visit Earth from outer space, they don’t like what they see. Finding a planet that is spoiled and neglected, the little men fly away, one by one. Luckily, by the end of this much-loved counting song, the world becomes a better place to visit - and the five little men may even have had something to do with it!

In Poor, Caleb Femi explores the trials, tribulations, dreams and joys of young Black boys in 21st-century Peckham. He contemplates the ways in which they are informed by the built environment of concrete walls and gentrifying neighbourhoods that form their stage, writes a coded, near-mythical history of the personalities and sagas of his South London youth and pays tribute to the rappers and artists who spoke to their lives.

To live in hearts we leave behind is not to die. In recent years non-religious funerals have become more common, but without an established canon of texts to fall back on, it can be difficult to plan an appropriate service for a loved one who had no religious belief or connections. Texts recommended by secular humanists, especially modern texts, can sometimes sound trite or overly informal.

Biracial Woman Says Aren’t I a Black Woman Too details a biracial woman contemplating her identity regarding issues of race and society.

Approximately one year after Trump was inaugurated and it feels like 10. The horror we felt at Donald J. Trump being elected is like a sunny walk in the park compared to him actually being president. The incompetent staff, the complicit adult-children, the gang of destroyers masquerading as cabinet secretaries. These poems are our attempt to cope with it, cheaper than psychiatry, healthier than heavy drinking.

There are many consequences of gravity. While our feet are firmly planted on terra, our hearts break, our souls seek homage from higher beings, our desire to learn creates intelligent animations landscapes change, demons posses, we dream of escaping to Mars and other planets. In times of crisis, one needs to stop and ask, “How did we get here?” Our contemporary chaos is the result of a society built upon pervasive systems of oppression, discrimination and violence that run deeper and reach further than most understand or care to realize. These draconian systems have been fundamental to many aspects of our lives, and we seem to have gradually allowed them more power. However, our foundation is not solid; it is fractured and collapsing – if we allow that. We need to start applying new models of interpretation and analysis to the deep-rooted problems at hand....

An Engineer's Book of Poetry describes the struggle and strife of an undergraduate engineering student, trying to build beautiful things in a burnt-up world. This book was inspired by the mean, old, engineering professors who taught me the dynamics of fluids, the heat of thermodynamics, and the mechanics of machines. It is derived from real-world situations, and kind TAs who helped me pass classes. The road from wanting to be an engineer to becoming one is long; this audiobook describes my incomplete journey. It is both advice, warning, and motivation for young engineers.

This is a book of short stories and poetry of medieval themes, especially the Vikings and the Anglo-Saxons. There is a delightful story called "The Owl, the Witch, and the Wizard" featuring the wizard Merlin. There is also a major new Arthurian poem concerning Excalibur, with a very surprising new twist upon the old story that brings Guinevere into the forefront as an equal of King Arthur. There are poems of heroes and knights, warriors and kings in the heroic age, a lot of it based upon the viking sagas, as well as new poems about King Alfred the Great.

Impassioned, insightful, electric, Manorism is a poetic examination of the lives of Black British men and boys: propped up and hemmed in by contemporary masculinity, deepened by family, misrepresented in the media, and complicated by the riches, and the costs, of belonging and inheritance.
