One of the goals of the minister of God is be ready to give a defense to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear (see 1 Peter 3:15). Our prayer is that this resource material will be a tool that helps you prepare to have an answer of why you believe in hope. “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” 2 Timothy 2:15

In the early 20th century, a man in Pakistan happened to walk by a small Christian chapel. Inside the preacher was speaking about the love of God. The man, a physician, took the same route the next day and stopped to listen. This was the beginning of a decades long commitment by the doctor to bring more people to faith in Jesus.

In 1990 Stephen Kaung shared on ministering the word of God before a group of church leaders from various places. The transcripts of those messages have now been compiled for future generations. This book is meant to be a companion to The Ministry of God's Word by Watchman Nee, which was required reading for all who attended that leadership conference.

If you preach God’s Word, you long to do so with the same scriptural philosophy and spiritual power that marked the preaching of the apostle Paul. In one brief New Testament passage, Paul explains the unique source of his power. In first-century Corinth, the Greeks highly prized and even idolized the ability to speak intelligently and eloquently. Unfortunately, many in the church in Corinth had embraced those secular standards, even causing serious division in the church.
