We live in a world of information overload. Facts and figures on absolutely everything are at our fingertips but are too often biased, distorted, or outright lies. From unemployment figures to voting polls, IQ tests to divorce rates, we're bombarded by seemingly plausible statistics on how people live and what they think. In a world where anyone can become an expert at the click of a button, being able to see through the tricks played with statistics is more necessary than ever before.

The Skolian Empire rules a third of the civilized galaxy through its mastery of faster-than-light communication. But war with the rival empire of the Traders seems imminent, a war that can only lead to slavery for the Skolians or the destruction of both sides. Destructive skirmishes have already occurred. A desperate attempt must be made to avert total disaster.

From the Ether to the Quantum Field is an essay in which I retrace the scientific development of the notion of the ether, as it dominated 19th century science, to the notion of the quantum field that is the final answer of modern science to the cosmic energy field as well as the human biofield that various researchers have detected and described, and that they all termed differently. Because of the terminological confusion, it was not obvious that all those researchers, from Carl Jung to Harold Saxton Burr, were actually talking about one and the same thing.
