Joseph Murphy and the Power of Your Subconscious Mind: Great Minds Series, Volume 6, 2017 Revised, Updated, and Reformatted Edition, is a study that features one of the greatest self-help authors of our time. Joseph Murphy (1898-1981), born in Ireland, was a naturalized American author and New Thought minister, ordained in divine science and religious science. He was born into a strictly Catholic schoolmaster family and was accepted as a Jesuit seminarian. However, by the time he reached his late teen years, he began to question the orthodoxy of the Jesuits and withdrew from the seminary, leaving his family for going to America, where he started a modest career as a pharmacist.

Ayn Rand is one of the most famous contemporary philosophers, particularly for her landmark books The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged. She was the founder of Objectivist Philosophy which was largely rejected during her time but has recently enjoyed a huge surge in popularity among many political groups. Her works focused on free market capitalism and intense individual and property rights. Ironically, the woman who prized individualism above all else, and rejected all government support, rose to prominence and then ended her life surviving off of social programs.

These two autobiographical essays by Douglas Harding were written 30 years apart. Harding wrote the first one in the 1960s when he was in his early 50s. He wrote the second one, "On Having No Head," when he was 80. They are instructive, insightful, and entertaining.
