Pet Loss Grief

To whoever is listening to this little book, I’m so sorry for your loss. I hope our story helps you understand that our loved ones, like my big sister, are never really gone. One day, Lady Hershey softly whispered in my ear that she was not afraid to leave. She wanted for me and our favourite person, Olivia, to not be too sad. She knew that she was going to Paradise, along with all the other animals and pets who have been loved very much by their families here on earth.

One of the best and most evergreen books, Dog Gone is considered one of the finest "go-to" books for veterinarians and animal grief counselors. Based on the death of my shaggy pup Grady, it touches upon all of the emotional challenges in a kind and sensitive fashion. It is cherished by kids and adults alike. It is also illustrated lovingly by children.

Society often questions and ridicules the pace and depth at which we grieve a loss, but especially the loss of a pet. The same pointed questions and hollow phrases are repeated over again, which ultimately create more pain and social withdrawal as we fall short of their expectations.
