لذا يحاول هذا الكتاب تسليط الضوء على الفترة الواقعة بين مطلع القرن السادس عشر الميلادي، وقيام الحرب العالميّة الأولى، ويقدم صورةمن المعروف أنّ موضوع الأكراد الأيزيديين لم يولّ الاهتمام المطلوب من قبل الدارسين، كما لم تقدم دراسات حقيقيّة عن أوضاعهم، ولا سيما في بلاد الرافدين بشكل شامل تاريخيّة شاملة للأكراد في العهد العثماني، على قاعدة أن التاريخ المجزأ، لا يفهم ولا يعطي الرؤيّة المناسبة، في إطار عدم الفصل بين الأحداث السياسيّة والعسكريّة والحالة الفكريّة والاجتماعيّة، والمؤثرات الدوليّة والإقليميّة، وانعكاساتها على الواقع الكُردي الأيزيدي كجزء لا يتجزأ من التاريخ الكُردي الحديث في المنطقة.

Early in the war, the Ottomans knew the Dardanelles strait would most certainly be attacked and had prepared significant defenses. The plan drafted by the then First Lord of the Admiralty, Winston Churchill, was meant to destroy Ottoman defenses along the Dardanelles.
