Today, there are over 100 nuclear reactors operating in our backyards, from Indian Point in New York to Diablo Canyon in California. Proponents claim that nuclear power is the only viable alternative to fossil fuels, and due to rising energy consumption and the looming threat of global warming, they are pushing for an even greater investment.

It is the early 1950s. Kristen Iversen is enjoying a carefree childhood surrounded by desert and mountains. In the midst of the zombie apocalypse, the main character, James, survives and seeks shelter in a convenience store.

Reed Futrell is an engineer at a uranium-enrichment plant in heartland America. His father worked at the very same plant before him. Despite his father's death in a tragic accident at the atomic plant years ago, Reed stays on, proud to perform demanding and dangerous work for the benefit of the nation. As for the radioactive "incidents" he has endured, Reed prefers to think about other things, such as Hubble photographs of distant galaxies and Albert Einstein, his dog.

The startup is exploring a molten chloride reactor concept, but says it remains committed to traveling wave reactors.
