Di aspetto poco appariscente ma dotato di un acume straordinario, Padre Brown è di nuovo all'opera in un appassionante lavoro di analisi e decifrazione di crimini ed enigmi in apparenza insolubili, con le sue ironiche e talvolta assurde confutazioni, rigoroso e lucido nell'osservazione e nelle deduzioni e nel contempo profondamente umano. Personaggio molto amato anche in Italia, questo curioso prete cattolico si rivela un segugio insuperabile grazie alla capacità di riconoscere e affrontare il male, per assicurare i colpevoli alla giustizia ma soprattutto per salvarne le anime.
