Moral Life

In this groundbreaking book, the philosopher Martin Hägglund challenges our received notions of faith and freedom. The faith we need to cultivate, he argues, is not a religious faith in eternity but a secular faith devoted to our finite life together. He reveals that all spiritual questions of freedom are inseparable from economic and material conditions. What ultimately matters is how we treat one another in this life, and what we do with our time together.

These pages represent two chapters of my recently updated book, The REAL Purpose-Driven Life plus an additional chapter on good versus evil. I removed the afore-mentioned chapters because I wanted to focus, in that book, on the central moral concept known as purpose. These chapters, although central to an understanding of the morality of Ayn Rand, stand on their own and provide several important insights on how to think about morality and apply it to the life of the individual.
