Winston Churchill captivated the world with his voice and his writings. His books and speeches ooze with patriotism and faith in a just God. But he wasn’t always known for his oratory skills, his faith, or his ability to captivate. In fact, as a child, he was small for his age, accident-prone, and frequently sick. To make matters worse, he was stubborn and self-centered, had a lisp, and did poorly in school. Born to an aristocratic family, young Winston was whisked off to boarding school at an early age, ignored by his parents, and left in the care of a nanny, Elizabeth Everest.

The 1950s was an era viewed by many Britons to be a Golden Age; in fact, the Isle of Wight liked it so much they decided to stay there. With the end of rationing, the increase in availability of consumer goods and the money with which to buy it, Britain rushed out to purchase luxuries like TVs, fridges and its first nuclear deterrent (though their pocket money couldn’t quite stretch to it). The teenager was also invented somewhere in the United States, causing mass panic across vast swathes of suburban England.

World domination is a vision most kings, queens, and emperors can only dream of, and is a path less visited for good reason. It is one that requires above all, patience, as well as skill, tenacity, and an impenetrable plan of action. The only one to ever come close to this impossible level of prestige is none other than the legendary British Empire.
